Question Sanctuary crashing, another thread.

Fresh install, everything brand new and shiny.

Just loaded everything inside Vault 111 as per everyone's recommendation, took several hours. Then, walking into sanctuary, waiting outside the crash area and waiting a further 15mins.

Still crashing afterwards, I have the most updated everything and tried any and all the fixes located on all the simsettlements websites and pages. Used all search functions too but any feedback is for older versions.

I am running current version, whatever you need me to post, I'll post it.

ANY help would be fantastic.
 
the 1080 mod? after i played it, i removed it, it's just an advert for nvidia, but it's rubbish (IMHO).

it's meant to advertise god rays or some such, but the performance from it was through the floor unless you disabled all the things it was supposed to show off.

if you really want it, just put it low down in your load order.

I'd like to try it atleast once. I've seen a few people talk about it and you're honestly the first one that didn't like it that much. Either way, yes, I know it needs to move to the bottom, but I'm using Vortex which isn't as simple as changing the load order. I'll either need to tell it to load after something specific or create a new group to set it later in the load order and am asking which would be best.
 
Hey look, I figured it out lol

anyway, I've installed Pra's mod and removed SMS. Its only loose files, so I think DEFUI or VIS-G is what broke it. It's a shame, it's a great mod, though I had it working fine on my build from a few weeks ago. King should contact the mod author to incorporate some of the features into SS.

As for VIS-G, DEF-UI and Settlement Keywords, they're all required for certain mods I wanted, so there's that. While I liked what they did for the most part, they are definitely not making it into my next mod list. I've already restarted once this month so I don't want to restart the game again this time around.

I did find out how to manually adjust the load order in Vortex. So simple it was stupid lol. I'm not sure how I should handle the Vault 1080 mod, should I give it a rule to load after something, or change it's group so it loads later?

Yeah I get what you're saying about only using "current" mods, I'm trying to keep that to a minimum, but I'm definitely seeing a severe lack of supported mods outside of Sim Settlements stuff this time around. The community doesn't seem to be as loyal as the Elder Scrolls community, that's for sure. And Nexus doesn't exactly give you a good filter for that stuff.


The Vis-g and Def_UI are soft requirements - only adds sorting tags (correct me if wrong - maybe def if some sort of fancy HUD?) … SKE is just another menu system (Cannabis uses it :) ) …. and I stopped using it long ago.

Double check the vis/def stuff... and if you use vis-g, don't use the last version, pick the one before... the latest forgot keywords for some of the legendary vanilla weapons and will CTD if you pull out of a container like the workbench...

its been a few years since i had the 1080 vaut in my game.

if i was going to add it today, i'd just put it in the group dynamic patches, so that it gets loaded pretty much last in my load order. that way, when i want to remove it, i simply disable it and there is nothing else affected.

with a load before/load after rule there exists the chance that i could accidentally make it a bit more tricky to remove from a new play through.

however, the choice is yours. as long as it's low down in the load order is all that matters.

VIS-G is a sorting mod, but it requires DEF_UI, and DEF_UI changes the inventory menus a bit. It's nice in concept, but isn't as widely supported as it seemed when I installed it unfortunately. Most of my current list supports it, but it fucks with CCC, which I didn't know at the time, and is pretty annoying. Removing it now will break my game, and as I said before, I'm not starting over again this time around, so I'm just sucking it up and dealing.

It's not causing any CTDs for me. I've got "boss chests drop legendaries" and "2LM" installed so I've been playing with alot of them and haven't had those problems. One of those LOST patches might address that.

@1ae0bfb8 ty, that's exactly what I wanted to know. Maybe Vault 1080 is garbage, but I'd like to try it out once myself. There isn't exactly an abundance of new quest mods for this like there is for Skyrim and so many of the ones that are available atm haven't been supported in years. Since it still works, I'm gonna give a whirl. I mean, like OaR has been fun so far, but it's like that mod was written by a 13 year old. The concept sounded cool, but holy shit, I only need so many titties in my game. Ellen the Cartographer has been ok, but her quest sent me to Quincy an hour after I picked her up and I was still running around with a pipe pistol...

Anyway, I was posting in this thread originally to get back into Sanctuary and I did that awhile ago and more, so thank you everyone for your help. I'll start a new thread elsewhere if I come up with any more issues(which I think I have, tho not game breaking). So thank you all for your help.
