Patch 3.1.5 - My Covenant to Optimization

@40ksmything This started with 3.1.5 for me but I also increased my threads to 20 instead of "auto". I'll see if changing threads back to 'auto' fixes it for me.

Funny you should mention that. I didn’t start to notice until I increased my threads from auto to 20 as well which I did right after the new patch.

i have it on 20 and i don't have your issues and i put it same as you after 3.1.5 i know can't be the same but just in case i say it.

Scripts can definitely get backed up and take minutes to resolve. This is part of the trade-off in reducing the load of Sim Settlements. My plan is that after I stabilize the core mod for everyone - I'll go back and add some new high-end options for PC players with strong rigs. Most of you can probably handle a lot more script threads running which will make everything snappier.

I set my threads back to "auto" and the refresh issue didn't clear up. Also, it's not just the really big settlements so that isn't it.

It's possible you ended up with plots stacked on top of each other. I've seen instances where the game fails to record which plots it already created and then places another on top. So then refreshing would only hit one of them.

Hmm, I'll try moving it with place everywhere and see if there's still one there. I can always put it back if I save the position first.

Nope, even if I moved the affected plots and said "knock it down" the ASAM sensor still wasn't right. So once it happens the plot has issues. I uninstalled the plan builder mods and reset my threads to auto but none of that mattered.

I had everything working good on xbox one until the update came out for the year end mod then it started crashing my system frequently.

Are there any issues downgrading to 3-1-4 to see if that stops the problems I'm having with plots not completely rendering when I re-enter a settlement? I'm wondering if the new code to lower the impact of cell loads may result in steps not completing. I have to keep manually refreshing some plots when I reenter some settlements. It's the same plots every time I think.

Is there a debug download or settings I can use for 3-1-5 which may tell the devs something useful?

Since installing the new update, I'm seeing two strange behaviors.

Minor: Commercial plots don't have ASAM sensors.

Major: Cities don't upgrade. They'll sit at Lvl 1, 100% for a long time, then I'll get a message that they've made city-wide upgrades, but when I go there, it's back to Lvl 1 and a low percentage.

On the other hand, no CTDS!

Hey Kinggath do you plan to add more leader in ROTC ? iknow there is leader add on for sim just wanted to know if in the base mods we will have more x)

Is the Dynamic Soundscape a potential big drag on my XBox system resources? I'm wondering if I might get less lag if I switch it off.

It shouldn't be a huge burden, the way we implemented it - it's only a single thread that runs very efficiently. If you want to try turning off all excess systems though - Dynamic Soundscape, Auto Closing Doors, and Visitors are all systems you can turn off to gain little bits of performance without affecting the way you play much.

Power connectors don't chain correctly in 3.1.5. If I go from generator -> connector -> floor light it works but if I go from generator -> connector -> connector -> floor light it does not.
This started on 3.1.5 and I downgraded to 3.1.4 SS, 3.1.4 RotC/IR and the chaining worked again.

I posted pictures to the help thread before I thought to try with 3.1.4 and see if it worked again. So, I think this might be a bug and need to be moved to a different forum if you can do that.

and i found that the big generator that give 10 power give only -5 taxe minor bug so i will not open a tread just for that but i put it here for information.
