Observations about the Jake tutorial and player-free city building

I've been a fan of SS for years and before SS2 came along my favorite thing about SS was the Conqueror system. Not necessarily to play evil/raider (although that was fun once or twice) but because of the extensive options at the beginning of the game to generate pre-built settlements at various stages that I, as the player, had absolutely nothing to do with. I got a huge kick out of exploring some of the amazing builds created by the SS community as an outsider, especially at level three, when I could get it to work. Is there any plan to incorporate something like this in SS2 in the future? Stepping into a world state where some effort has been made/is being made and progress is ongoing (a trading empire based out of Bunker Hill, a "vice city" entertainment mecca ala New Vegas at the Starlite with feeder farms, etc) while still leaving room for me to build out my own settlements, form alliances through the trading post for visiting merchants from other parts of the map would be the ideal.

The other thing I have been trying to figure out since coming back is can I disable the Jake tutorial (Hello there!) as I have played through SS2 a few times already on different characters and I'd love access to the new ASAM plots and features without running through the tutorial again as soon as I set up a beacon. Don't get me wrong, I love Jake and I can even handle Paul in small doses, but I am going to put together a new LO minus modern/non-"lorish" weapons and armor when my new computer arrives in a couple weeks. I will do just about anything to avoid having to play through the tutorial again. Say, pick up the SS2 storyline AFTER the Concord Five and Jake tutorial bits using something like SKKK Fast Start Minutemen, beginning with the raider kidnapping/revenge scenario that occurs as I am asking Jake about "more" ASAM features and functionality?

(I found answers to the second question in the FAQ. For now I will just unlock the plot types and skip the SS2 MQ)

Thanks in advance for indulging my interest and questions!

You are asking a group that has kept everything under secrecy for over a year if they will include a feature as they prepare to release Chapter 2?

Sorry mate but I don't think you'll get an answer. You'll have to wait until chapter 2 is released and see where things go from there.

I suppose I am/was. It wasn't really my intention. The first is just a want. The second was/is something I can kinda fix myself by cheating the holotape. I'm sorry for posting this.

Don't be sorry. It's ok that you ask questions. But I'm just reminding you that they are quite like Bethesda in a lot of ways. They don't like to share much info in advance. So I'm really simply tampering your expectations. Odds are, we'll have a good answers in the upcoming weeks (I heard 3 but don't quote me on this)

Oh, it's all good Ire. I just feel like my communication skills aren't up to snuff today. I want to support the team and I will wait patiently for the next thing, for sure. I guess I was just trying to express how much I loved walking into a new world/save and "finding" certain settlements built up and doing their own thing. It was my favorite feature of Conqueror TBH, next to Jammer who was just FN wonderfully done.

While they don't like to reveal much, I'm pretty sure Kinggath said they still planned to get conqueror 2 (and Jammer) in SS2 at some point. And I know you are not the only one who has shown some love to this addon in particular. Pretty sure it was the most popular addon on SS1 for a vast majority of players.

I was playing on Xbox at the time so I never really got into it, it was just too heavy with how much I wanted to have in terms of plot addons. But what plots and content it brought was really nice too and I appreciated it a great deal. So in that sense I would be really surprised that we don't see this come back at some point but I'm not sure if what you are asking specifically (the settlements being prebuilt) will necessarily be part of the next addon, or at all. My best guess is it will be because of how popular it was but that's all I can offer, an educated guess.

Also, my educated guess says this could be something added in between chapters. It could be one of their bi monthly updates. I know they had a big update between chapter 1 and 2 that added a bunch of content in terms of city plans (another thing I don't use so I'm unsure what exactly it was that got updated/changed). So that would be something that could possibly be added sooner than later even if it is not part of Chapter 2.

I am looking forward to the release of Conqueror for SS2, largely because I love the cast, but primarily -- the ability to import, say -- a few city plans and then choose to have them (and them only) prebuilt to level three before I leave the vault (to discover, befriend, work for, whatever) would be cool as hell.

@Irealys I'm gonna start calling you that. :agree:
Based on murmurs I heard in Goodneighbor, I can say with 90% certainty, the pre-built city mechanic will not be part of chapter 2. My guess it it will be part of chapter 3, which I understand will be SS2 Conqueror. I would also hazard a guess it will be at least another year before it is released.

Though I hear you. I have been impatiently waiting a long time for the next exploits of Jammer and Co. I'm really curious if that quest will return, or if it will change completely to better fit SS2's vision. I guess time will tell.

I would at least hope it gets another pass to smooth out some issues, like the second last quest of where "Conqueror1" left off, a dozen hours in, being where the "tutorials" for core mechanics of the mod are.

Reading the FAQ for Chapter 2, I believe Conqueror MAY be making a return as it says you'll be able to establish your own faction headquarters. If it's not at the minimum it's starting to prepare for it.

Conqueror will be either chapter 3 or 4. Nothing has been said officially other than Conqueror will be added to SS2 eventually. I can almost guarantee you that it will not be part of chapter 2.

I read somewhere here. That kinggath is keen to get conquer in ss2 ,but they wanted to get ch 2 out (would take to long to implement) ch 3 was mentioned

I've played through half a dozen times. Today I got an error I've never had before. (I'm playing with about half the mods I normally use). After Haden shows up and I tell everyone to calm down the game freezes. It happened 4 times. Tried reloading to an earlier save before the quest started, but I still got the same issue.

So I went back and loaded my full mod list and it worked right away. a bit bizarre.
