Not a bug Low settler appearance variance

Since using this mod, the variance in settlers appearance has gone way down. In a settlement with a population of 13, I currently have three settlers who look exactly the same, another two who are twins, and yet another pair that are identical. As far as I know, I do not have any other mods that would affect settlers (other than Sim Settlement add-ons).

I definitely don't touch the settler appearances. It's possible one of the add-on packs is though. I'll ask around tomorrow and see if anyone is tweaking something like that.

There are definitely mods out there that don't explicitly claim to edit anything settlement related that actually do. For example, Welcome to Goodneighbor (that mod is the bane of my existence - breaks so many mods... but I digress)

Just to comment: I'm running almost all available addon packs right now AND better settlers. Things seem to work flawlessly and I'm getting a good mix. Then again, the settlements have been around quite a while and over a wide range of me leveling. I'll inspect the newest one in a while and see if anything like massive repititions appear. I haven't actively noticed, and that with me running around and equipping all my settlers with their uniforms & service rifles!

I don't know the exact number but I think that there is only something like ~40 settler models in the vanilla game, so what you're seeing could possibly just be coincidence due to lack of variety. You could try using Lots More Settlers & Enemies or Better Settlers. Or both with compatibility patch. I haven't seen a repeat, or even a close resemblance, since I installed them.

I don't use Welcome to Goodneighbor, and this is on a new playthrough. I've tried it in multiple settlements on multiple characters, and all seem to do this. It may just be bad luck. I run a lot of mods, but almost all are for items and/or crafting. The only other one I could think of that might be related would be Tales of the Commonwealth.

That would be a shame if Tales of the Commonwealth is causing it - love that mod!

The only other mods I use that might be related would be Azar's Ponytails, "Glowing Eyes", "Lots More Female Hairstyles By Recluse", and "Young Explorer", which just changes one of the presets at character creation because I am too lazy to make a good looking character. As far as I know, I have never seen any NPCs in game use any of the hairstyles/eyes from these mods. Nothing else touches NPCs. But again, it could just be really bad luck. Thing is, I see the same settlers across multiple characters. I will have to try without those mods, maybe just use Sim Settlements for a test.
