Lost control of Settlment (Tenpines), still shows as linked in caravan & can use city planner's desk but can't re-acquire it.

(Apologies if I missed an existing thread)

I lost control of Tenpines while I was wandering around, and went over to investigate. I'm seeing the following:

-everyone responds to me with generic greetings, and I can see their job assignment display window, but have no dialogue options.
-the settlment still shows as linked to the caravan network on the map (using the default SS2 caravan services plot.)
-I can't use the workshop (not allied), but I can still use the City Planner's desk to view the city plan, fire the leader, etc.

I can't re-acquire the settlement as none of the settlers, including the originals & the current mayor. I'm guessing this might be to do with SS2 as some of the SS2 functions are still working - has anyone come across this before?

Does the location still show on the Settlements tab in your pipboy? (it's under the Maps screen) If so, what stats does it report there?

Workshop Framework actually includes a function that lets you forcibly take control of a settlement; if you go over to the red Workbench object - it's behind the little shack there at Tenpines, right by the campfire Lucas the Armor Dealer always sits at - and hit the Manage menu there should be an option in there to just Take Control.

If the option to take control isnt there Id try and use the workbench options to release the settlement then take it over again.

Also there is an option to prevent towns from leaving. I believe its in the workshop framework options.

Don't think SS2 shuts down stuff like mayor's desk or caravans when you lose a settlement. Probably an oversight but it'd be annoying if it did. And yes, you can use the workbench to reclaim a settlement.

I was just on my way back to post that I could take control using the WF option - I wasn't aware of it at time of posting but it did the trick.
The settlement was no longer listed under my settlments list, and the settlement inventory was empty (when checking at the cooking station).

I’m experiencing a similar problem…might be related.
I lost country crossing immediately after turn in their kill the raiders quest.
I reloaded my save checked the status of the quests stage and every thing looked good.
Then returned to country cross and even though the settler gives his support to the minute men
the same thing happened … a message saying this settlement is no longer alied with you.
I claimed the settlement via workbench and did some building .However was not able to select a flag.
A day or two later I got the message of CC is no longer allied with you.
Sure enough I couldn’t use the workshop oh, and I had allow settlements to leave turned off and
they still left.
I ignored this for a while and other settlement quests went without a hitch.
‘That is until The Slog…same problem, turned in wiseman’s quest and get their support and immediately gain and lose access to their workbench.

I’ve temporarily resolved this by using console command setpv etc. then fast travel away and returning.
Now I’ll have to see if they leave again.

Also This is a fresh playthrough using The latest ss2 publish.

How many Mods are you using (Besides SS2)? If its low would you mind sharing your savegame for analys?
