Looking For Some Greenery

I realize that this is only tangentially related to SS2,but I'm seriously jonesing for a mod,or multiple mods, that makes the Commonwealth green. It's been 210 years after nuclear Armageddon. Pripyat was made to glow in the dark thirty five years ago,and the plant life is flourishing. My objectives are; Doesn't break precombines. Doesn't add many,if any,new trees,ESPECIALLY in settlement build zones. Minimal work on my end to make an abandoned mod work. Green grass and leafy trees. And,of course, doesn't interfere with SS2 quests. If anybody knows of any mods that fits my criteria, then please, link 'em here!

You should check "Luxor's Summer" (and generally everything made by Luxor)
and "A Splash of Pine Trees"
Both are 2022 mods.

This one's very light, seems all it does is make the already existing plants green, which is all I need. Haven't had any problems with it so far.

I'm currently using Boston Natural Surroundings, Pine Trees Redone, Car Variety, True Grass and Veldt(original recipe). There are some ini changes for grass, but that's about it environment wise(other than NAX, Wet and Wet Effects). I also 'disabled' the HD DLC and my frames rates are way better- using community 2k and 4k textures instead.

This is the load order I'm using. The {category} and [sections] descriptions are just for software testing- I'll eventually finalize them. The [Available] would represent the final installation order- unfortunately it's not accurate so don't rely on that just yet, as it's missing entries and definitely out of proper order. The [Downloads] are the actual mod archives I used and should match the [Available]- again as I'm load out testing and developing the software it's gotten out of sync, but when it's done all should sync up.

The other file is the dll's I'm currently using- it's an html file with a .txt extension so I can upload it here without problems(it's a simple table list). Let me find a way to post a picture since I'm playing the game in 5120 x 1440 and the screen shots are too large to upload.

I'm on the same hunt. I am also currently using True Grass, and I think it is causing slow loading. For example, when I exit a building back into the Commonwealth, the loads used to be maybe 30 seconds or so. Now it's more like 6-8 minutes. I'm not positive that this mod is the culprit, but it's at the top of my list.

I'm thinking of replacing it (on my next playthrough) with something else. I am very tempted to take General Ilene's suggestion! I looked up Luxor's Summer, but it requires me to add three additional mods, and I'm not going to do that. I'm too timid to join the 300+ mod club.

Does anyone have any experience with Green Commonwealth (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11623)?

Are using any texture replacers for grass that's up in the 2K or 4K range? How's you VRAM doing? If it's getting low, that could cause it too.
No texture replacers, but it does seem to get worse the longer I play. I have an 8GB video card (Radeon RX 6600 XT), and 32GB of system RAM. Hmmmm....

My 6900XT has 16g of VRAM and using 2k texture replacers and manually generated LOD- when playing VRAM usage goes over 8g easy(usually sticks around 12-14g in-use consistently). Since the symptom gets worse the more you play rather than just specific areas and not right off the bat makes me think VRAM. I used AMD's overlay to monitor it while I was doing some playthroughs.

Here, I disabled the official HD DLC and directly replaced the textures with Luxor's Fallout HD (as a base) to replace any rediculous sized 'maps' that were way beyond necessary size. I made sure grass textures weren't 2k and that bns trees weren't 4k. Then I rebuilt the LOD using my current load order along with added previs and precombine repair and patches for specific mods.

There are some areas that I can't hit 60fps in even though my gpu is around %50 and my cpu is round 30%- which I think is due to how the graphics rendering was coded. My guess would be.... let's say there's 10 ways to distribute graphics processing(rendering) and they only used 3(they were most familiar with these). Those 3 will be bottlenecked effecting fps as opposed to piping it down 10 coding streams. So the entire 10 line gpu isn't at %100 but one or more over-used function stream or paths are... thus the fps hit with the gpu not at %100.

That's the one I'm using as well. I quite like it.

After typing this all out, I realized the OP is from 4 months ago, but I'm going to go ahead and post it anyway. :)

I remember that hunt. Took me months to finally figure out a good combo that I liked. It's highly subjective.

I only have 4GB VRAM and use True Grass without any issues. I did edit the INI. iMinGrassSize=60 from 20, which helps with performance. I'm actually running on a laptop and mostly keep at 60fps, except downtown which is pretty normal (I lock it at 60 which makes things run better and keeps my GPU from overheating). Previsibines Repair Pack (PRP) Stable Branch helps with that a lot though.

I use quite a few mods to make things green. It may seem overwhelming, but just adding Another Pine Forest with True Grass would get you most of the way there. (Most of them are just texture replacers, so it's 6 plugins all together).

This will add new trees, but those added in settlement zones are scrapable. As for precombines, they are not touched as adding new items doesn't alter precombines. Load everything before PRP if you are using it.

I use MO2 and this is the install order:
Another Pine Forest Mod (Tress Only Version)
Another Pine Forest MOFAM Edit (esp replacer)
Another Pine Tree Forest Performance Textures (BA2 replacer)
Pine Trees Redone
True Grass
Better Landscape Grass
Plants retextures
Peekaboo's Glowing Wild Plants
Natural Green - Grass Shrubs and Trees
2RTR - Greener Grasses (Both files)
Lily Pads and pond scum remover
xrayys better ivy vines01 tex 4k (I used to use invisible textures to hide vines, but with this mod I don't need to anymore as they look amazing)
NXGEN - Nice Bush (Same with this one, I use to hide them with invisible textures)

And the load order:
Another Pine Forest Trees Only.esp
Pine Tress Redone.esp
TrueGrass.esp
2RTR-Greener-Grasses.esp
Better Landscape Grass.esp
NiceBush.esp

I also manually generate LOD using Far Object LOD Improvement Project. It takes a few minutes to do and is well worth it. May take 20-30 the first time as you have to read through the instructions and get all the mods figured out.

That is purty!

I love BNS, but it is currently in the process of an update.

I currently use this one and just the trees only version.

Another Pine Forest Mod

I think it is a hidden gem of a mod.

The above said. Still, some of the all-time best green mods ever done for Fo4 were Seasons by: Frogprincess

They are AIO and arguably also the most performance friendly for Fo4 given all that they do.

They were moved to discord only.

If that link does not work, then maybe PM damanding? She is the gatekeeper.

The mod I chose to stick with was called Regrowth Overhaul 10, which is no longer available on Nexus. I did have to remove the World Edits from the mod with FO4Edit, and there are strange effects such as dead logs turning into living pine trees lying down, and pine trees floating sideways on the distant horizon. What endears this mod to me is that it converts those dead leaves that swirl up from some spots on the road, into monarch butterflies. Oh, it also makes green trees and vines in settlements if you've broken the precombines for it in those settlements, and converts all the dead grass and twigs into living grass and flowers. It turns briars into ferns, and I love ferns. But best of all are those butterflies. The Wasteland is not dead after all.

I did find it available but not on Nexus. You can download the file here, but be careful not to let it install anything along the way.
