Researching It crashes with sentinel control system companion

I updated to 0.96b and it crashes with new creation club mod of 2018 July. Sentinel power armor mod. I think it have something to do with both mods using robot elements.
 
Well get rid of the junk and totally unworthy CC crap. You should be ashamed even thinking about having that stuff on the same system as Mytigo's Amazingly Awesome goodies.

But seriously.. I'm betting the CC mod is well.. like 99.9% of the others, buggy.

I can't confirm the error or fix it as I don't have that content I'm afraid.

Hopefully someone can confirm this, and I can at least put a notice up about it, however as I won't be buying any CC content, unless it comes up as free in the store this is unlikely to get fixed.

Edit: also, where does this crash happen? I don't modify any vanilla records, so it's a bit concerning that CC content would modify things in such a way that standard papyrus functions would cause a crash.

so about the crash. It ctds when cc is loaded. I disabled setinel control system companion and it doesn't happen. when I disable your mod it doesn't happen. but when it is loaded together

Bam. ctd. This cc mod uses mr. gutsy, sentrybot and assaultron assets(voices). So I think it have something to do with robot.

Funny thing is it was fine before I updated. but after that it doesn't matter if i roll back. CTDS happens to .94 version as well.

Yeah.. It is just a two power armor paintjobs and one companion. However I payed my hard earned cash, so I want to play it. If I can. So I played about 1800 hours so I need a new contents.

CC Contents are buggy as hell. I mean tunnel snakes mod breaks out of time quest.

Have you tried a new game? At this point this is just troubleshooting mode, not because I think it's a solution, but if a fresh game will start you might be able to pin down which plot or plots cause the problem in particular.

A CTD that sudden is suprising since all of my resources are duplicates of vanilla assets and if it was a result of interacting with the robot NPCs themselves it should at least wait until the robot building plots trigger and interact with an offending omod

I can't even start a new game. So, I back at my computer and I will explain in detail.

I load both your mod and cc mod. boot up the game. wait it for to load, bam. starting page. but you know that you have to wait for creation club to load right? So, creation club loads bam.

CTD.

Normally a crash like the one you describe is caused by either a) a missing master or b) a bad mesh/model (which wouldn't happen until that model was on screen).

If you feel comfortable enough to do so, try running my mod and the CC esl through fo4edit and then do a Filter for Cleaning and see if there are any collisions. If not, I think I'll have to simply declare my mod incompatible with the Creation Club content

Wow that's really disappointing TBH and seems a bit misleading from what CC page claimed it has(Though in honesty I barely looked). I thought it would give players something like an auto-AI, on demand. I imagined it'd be like my empty PA frames could get an activated AI so I can order it to move around or it can help defend. Like
Iron Man's Iron Legion army of AI suits in Iron Man 3.
Although even then if it were that, they're still charging 700 credits which IIRC works out to a higher price than Automatron and I honestly prefer just Automatron with mytigio's plots, even if the CC mod did resemble the movie spoiler. I'm actually making an industrial & robotics settlement right now.

I feel bad for you guys. It seems to me that the quality control is extremely poor or perhaps non existent. I had complaint on one of my mod about breaking When Freedom Calls, turns out Tunnel Snakes Rule was almost definitely to blame. Doesn't look good when the 2 first quests of the game get broken by the CC mod.

That'd be great, as this is probably the only way to find the cause. Like Mytigio I only get CC stuff when they're available for free.

This is the initial menu in FO4 edit, select the IndustrialCity esp & then whatever the CC plugin is called. I think you might need the github version 3.2.3m in order to view ESL records(IIRC 3.2.1 they're seen in the list but greyed out so can't compare their records?)

Check through the list for any highlighted records, especially those highlighted in red! These indicate conflicts/overrides between the plugins. It's probably best to take a screencapture if you do find it, as some conflicts like the pipboy map.dds one are probably harmless plus you or I probably won't know if something's relevant to the issue or not. Only Mytigio will likely know.

No highlighted ones under Industrial City at all? If that is the case I would then suspect that it might be script related issue, and odds are that the CC mod's scripts are the culprits. I've been using Industrial City for a long time, probably since it released and I don't recall ever having experienced sudden crashes like this with Industrial City on my game. That's of course with me not having the sentinel CC mod so logically it's probably related to the CC mod, otherwise I would think that the crashing would have come up before and I would think that I probably would have experienced it.

I think so too. As I explained this sentiel mod uses robot and hacking scripts too make companion function and it is touchy with mods that touches robots.

I was using automatron robot vendor fix mod and that caused CTD. So I deleted that and it worked fine.

I explained as before it worked fine before update so I am dumbfounded.

Ok. Final report. Good news and bad news.

Good news is bug is gone and game works fine again. Thank you both for your help.

Bad news is I have no idea why it is fixed. Sorry to bother you both.
 
Might be a SWAG, but script lag in the CC mod might have been the issue. Only time i’ve had CTD issues lately seems to be caused by script lag. Hiding in an interior cell like Home Plate or the bunker in Sanctuary for 10 minutes or so usually clears it up for quite some time.
 
Hmm, interesting that it fixed itself. Neither of those highlight records are likely to be the error.

The only other possibility we could look at would be unpacking the esl to look for updated scripts that I would be using, but that shouldn't crash the game instantly. Is it possible the CC content updated?

Definitely this.

Daleksoup: Can you unpack the ba2 files for the CC mod, then download and run this on the PEX files in the unpacked "scripts" folder. This will convert the files into an actually readable format.

Can you then PM the resulting script files to mytigio?

Although if the issue is indeed due to flaws with Sentinel CC's scripting there might not be much that can be done about it. Can work around things to an extent but if the scripts are flat out bad then there might not be much that can be done as I don't think the Sentinel CC's scripts can be patched by a mod? I have seen corrections be done to mesh files or to specific records in the case of the CC paint mods getting fixed by shawnphillips, but I have never seen scripts be corrected. Though TBH at that point by fixing their scripts, modders would be flat out doing the CC author's job for them(that they got paid to do), I'd say that's pretty much to the point of redoing their work.

That is an interesting point. When I do experience CTDs I'll have to try this out.

Ok. Busy day. Updates.

Game flows smoothly and without crashes. like nothing ever happened. When I get time I will do it, but I am quite busy in the weekdays so...
