Is there a way to influence tech tree advancement?

If I want a specific advanced industrial building is there anything I can do aside from build the right level 1 building to increase the odds of the building I actually want developing if it hasn't been discovered yet or do I just have to hope that R.N.Jesus blesses me?

Have you set the advanced industrial plots to auto upgrade? Because with manual setting you can choose exactly which plot you get when it levels up(and thereby which branch to go down).

Certain advanced industrial plots have specific requirements. Without spoilers it is just something you have to discover on your own. But with this many different plots and the need for them to all be in the same settlement, and RotC severely limiting the number of Adv. industrial plots in each settlement... I don't think you would discover half of them with a normal playthrough.

Honestly I would advice people(using RotC) to have a look at the community spreadsheet, so they can properly plan out their settlements in advance.

Yeah I set plots to auto upgrade because I didn't want the hassle of having to approve an upgrade every time a resi,ag, or com plot needed to upgrade.

The other way to do it for hands off management if you're like me and only want to really control 1 or 2 upgrade paths, then you can still set everything to auto upgrade and just revert the few you want to control to manual

1. set everything to auto upgrade like you are now
2. but for the few you care about, individually set that Adv Ind plot to not auto upgrade

**for me this isn't much micromanagement because I have only 1 plot type I really care to control --> ensuring an Iron Mine becomes Steel - ASAP - then Steel turns into Tool/Die so I can rush level 4 farms.

In each settlement that farms, I need a lumber plot (so iron can become steel), and iron mine (which is set to manual and ignore global auto upgrade). I plop down like 6-8 Adv Industry plots and mostly let them auto pick whatever, but the 1 iron mine in each farming settlement is the one I toggle to manual.

You can do the same for the couple tech tree dependent stuff like if you want salvage yard to ensure getting to eventual microfusion garage.
