Interesting issue

I am not 100% sure if this is a bug or not, but I am going to place it here.
Here's the deal. I've been on a fallout hiatus since around October 2017, but I kept up with the SS developments. I've come back to it and found my load order is a complete shambles which is sad as it consisted of 29 mods. Well that shouldn't be an issue to troubleshoot right?

Here's my process. When I add a new mod I make the following run in the game. The whole process takes about 20 minutes. I find a baseline save for a test character that consists of my current LO and complete the following circuit: Sanctuary -> Concord -> Drumline -> straight shot to CIT -> jump in the river and swim to the bridge right before hay market mall -> Visit the mall -> Vault tec Headquarters -> Commonwealth Bank -> Swan's Pond -> Shenley's Oyster Bar -> arrive at Diamond City. If all goes well, I may consider keeping the mod. Basically it's a stress test. My test character is created using Cheat Terminal and is level 21 and running on God Mode. In Sanctuary there has been a small settlement started with Sim Settlements, but i have not freed Preston and company. 2 settlers have shown up and are currently building 2 homes and 2 farms.

So what's happening here is that I do 75% of the run, get to Shenley's and I freeze. This is literally the nexus of the Fallout Universe for me. If I make it past Shenley's we are more than likely good. Again, mad freeze. I get past the turret and then to the interior where the raiders are. They are all dead and as soon as I scan a body for loot, freeze up. The last three times I did this run was using in this order:
Sim Settlements
Cheat Terminal
Settlement Menu Manager
Industrial Revolution.

I'm on an xbox one s with the performance settings set for that. Now I am not expecting a fix as this is an odd issue, but I can replicate it without fail. Running cheat terminal alone and i make it through with no issues. What I am wondering (if no one can replicate this) is what are the base xbox settings for performance? i'm thinking I can try those and see if I get through. If so, I can gradually flip settings back to "On" and see where I bomb out at. It's just really odd that I was able to get through with those 4 mods (and more) back in october and cannot do so now. I'm linking an old video that has the back half of that run in it. This picks up after I leave the commonwealth bank. Do you have the original Xbox, the S or the X? Did you use the configuration manager to set the performance options or manually set the performance options? I used these test performance options from this thread https://simsettlements.com/site/index.php?threads/sim-settlements-not-working-help.4639/#post-36441 on the Xbox-X and don't have any crashing issues. I also use these mods to fix downtown boston.

I am on an X Box one S and I let the configuration manager set the options for me. Like I said I was only using 4 mods at the time and I can successfully make this run with just Cheat Terminal running. I know the nytra mods really well. Actually I like the Vivid HD mods better and anecdotally they seem to help a lot though without any tools on xb I have to rely on 47 year old eyes. I'll check out the link you supplied above. I'll let you all know if that helps or not.

I have to wait till the kids get off of the TV to check it out again. For me it's just odd that something that gave me no issues now gives me issues. Maybe that break I took was too long. O.o
 
The last patch 3.1.6a had a few issues in it, there is new one out today for SS, ROTC. So far seems to fix a lot of the issues.
 
Current version of Sim Settlements is indeed 3.2.0a. Have you already moved to this version of the mod? You might need to refresh settlements after the update.

Watching the thread. I do not have XBOX though, so I can not check performance issues myself.
 
I took SFCRock's advice and checked out the thread with the performance variables. I set it up as indicated and then installed Nytra's Building textures and landscape texture mods. Due to space on the xb one i had to let ROTC go as I only have like 104mb left (stupid Tales of the Commonwealth at 500+). So far so good. I played an hour or so this morning with a limited Realtime build happening in Sanctuary and no issues at Shenleys. I do want to note something. I am using a mod that allows me to disable the quick loot setting and treat corpses like containers. I basically have to search them. Since I enabled that setting, my issues at Shenley's have seemed to stop. Everytime I hovered over a corpse and the loot would populate, the game would freeze and that was using the 4 mods I indicated above. Coupled with the decreased performance options and all is good. I do want to try it with Clutter enabled at some point, but disabling the quick loot and its effects afterwards did raise an eyebrow.
 
@mlwest1970 Glad to hear, Those settings are for the extreme, but once you get a stable game going you can start turning them on one by one. I run well over 90 mods on my Xbox One X and it's stable. I also have almost every settlement in the Commonwealth setup as a ROTC settlement, I think I have 3 left to clear and nuka-world.
 
@SFCR0CK I've got to figure out space issues before I can get RoTC going. I'm only using SS Lite, IR, IC, Scrappers and Ruined Homes and Gardens. I'm thinking I may have to let Campsite, Mobile Mechanic, and Backpacks of the Commonwealth go at this point. There's a fine line between immersion and having this to do (Tales from the Commonwealth and SS). I think things to do is much more important.

Oh that's awesome you have 90 going. I'm sitting at 37 at the moment an 104mb left. ;)
