Not a bug Inside out commercial warehouses

I found that internal commercial plots will only snap to the exterior of warehouse walls, which sort of defeats the whole concept of internal - especially when you go to put a roof on :)

guessing you're snapping to a wall that doesn't have an edge. There's a post I made a while back that goes into this in detail but the short short version is that if you were to pull the floor out exactly 1 square away from the wall, the interior will have an edge to snap to and will snap fine, then you can put the floor back and walk away whistling.

Yeah, my ascii art sucks :)

That's some damn fine ascii art. also: this would explain an issue I had as well, might try this and see if it resolves the issue.

LOL I think your ascii art is just fine. I tried it on a warehouse with a corner and one that was just a single wall all by itself. In both cases the plot only wanted to snap to the exterior of the wall.

Is there a mod that lets you see a grid for placing objects? The only mods I use are the Sim Settlement ones :)

I wish there was, it'd make a lot soooo much easier.
any luck turning off surface snapping in place anywhere? (F2) and seeing if it starts playing nicer? I usually run with that off so I can sink things into the ground without driving myself insane.

Hitting F2 doesn't seem to do anything for me and I didn't see anywhere else where I could choose that option. It's ok, I'll figure something else out :)

Ah... if place everywhere isn't installed or isn't functional on your machine from the recent update you may need to roll back or just sit tight until the new version appears

The easiest way I found to maintain sanity is only build floor tiles where you want the plots. After the plots are placed, build your structures around the plots. You can get pretty creative this way.

Actually, I have a small mall on one of the empty pads in Sanctuary, so I didn't build any floor tiles - just walls. I didn't think to mention that before. Perhaps that will help - I'll give it a go - thanks!

This is definitely a Bethesda issue. Once a snap point is blocked by an object, nothing else can snap to it. To snap interior plots you always need one bare edge on a floor tile. The easiest way is to pick a wall that has almost nothing and snap to that side. It essentially just requires some planning to use Interior Plots if you want to snap them.
Interior Plot Snapping
Thank you
