I HATE to say this but CTD happening :(

Oh man, I hope the textures are local. That would mean optimized textures would improve the performance of this wonderful mod. And it would allow players to use their favorite custom textures for things like drinks, junk, etc.

Perhaps I should build a town on Spectacle Island to really put this to the test....
Well how about this then.
Give it a try and then announce the results in "general" for everyone to learn and enjoy?
Won't hurt anything and we can all learn something as well :)
The trick is to not change the vanilla texture [I think] lol.

This got me wondering about something: Does SS bundle the textures it uses with the mod or does it use local textures? ie. If I use a custom texture for whiskey will I see the custom texture in a NPC house or will I see the texture that was included in SS?

I used as many local textures as possible. The only ones that are packaged are the custom ones and the vanilla ones that I needed to alter- such as the commercial hand-painted signs.

ok I ran from the dinner to diamond city without ur mod and I didn't notice anything
I turned it back on and ran back and no glitches or anything new
I did have a lot of trouble DL Ind REV and a clean download got rid of the cola signs
still get ctd
is it possible it has something to do wit nexus? hundreds were trying to download patch and xpac and addon patchs at once
 
Are you using LOOT? Could be a load order issue.

You could also do a few tests to help narrow things down: try loading with no mods, you might crash anyway because your save has so much stuff from mods - but if that's the case, it will crash pretty quickly. The other test would be to play around with another character for a bit with your same load order to see if the crashes happen for that save as well. Obviously, back up any saves before you start doing all of these tests.

So are you saying removing your mod will get rid of the fridge in my play through then?

I don't edit cells or using any scripting outside of teleporting. So if there is an issue with my addon its something that was packaged that wasnt supposed to be but thats not in question at this point in time. If it were my nexus would most certainly have a post on it by now. This issue seems to be random right now and I was just checking with uituit to see if our issue was related. The test was inconclusive. If there was an issue with my mod it would be repaired far before I would post about it here. Self destruction is not something im keen on :)

All mods ,current toon but very early save no crashes, in this save starlight is built up but red rocket and spectacle is empty
current save red rocket and spectacle is saturated with a hell of a lot of clutter

so maybe it was poly count after all and just a coinedence that it happen to others at the same time

You modders are so many levels of "pay grade" above us "settlers" we just look up in awe trying to glimmer pieces of information that fall from your lips like liquid gold to us poor suffering, and not so brilliant, followers [bats eyelashes and curtsies] :)
 
LOL @SherylinRM anyone can do this, its just a matter of having patience. Think of this as not just legos but all the legos in the world and you are looking for 1 fucking 2X 4 flat lego. If you can deal with the hunt you can do 90% of the mods on nexus. There are very few custom graphic mods on nexus. most are just lego builds, textual edits or stat changes. Adding voice and dialogue fits into the lego category. Easy stuff and fun stuff ;)

So, the conveyor belt through the head that @kevbal was getting is for sure my mod. I've found the issue and will release that fix with my next patch (the Toy Factory was spawning it because the nif no longer had the named node to spawn the belt onto).

The nuka cola signs I'm not sure about, I don't think I use those anywhere but I'll try and verify. Having said that, if we can determine the mod they come from it's probably an issue similar to the one I was having above.

As for the crashing: what version of my mod are you running @uituit? Pre 0.7.4 I was doing scavanger plot updates on a plot-by-plot basis, which added more load then needed. That in particular is resolved in newer versions. Additionally several of my models have some pretty high-poly clutter, especially on my plots relating to robots (robot models are super high on poly count), so the update I'm working on now has clutter broken up so folks can turn off some of it with kinggaths performance settings (most of it falls under Clutter and High Definition Models). I could give you an early version of my next patch to see if it resolves any of the crashing.

What about nifs built from SCOLS? will those respect changes to basic textures or will they retain the original texture since it's baked into a new nif?
 
Yes they will respect the changes, since the nifs will retain the materials of the objects they are made from.
