HUD Resource Icon Explanation

Thanks for the help in the wiki, and I know there has been talk about a FAQ or common question post;

It does not have to be perfect, it just needs to be an upgrade over what we have now.
"Perfect is the enemy of done" - as they say.

Note: I made submission to this forum of a draft FAQ or wiki submission.
It is far lower quality than the standards of the official contributors and moderators here, but it might be a good gap measure until something more thought out is complete, or maybe use it as a starting point for something.

While Obviously, it needs review - I put in some special places where I had no good info on potentially common questions;
they are marked with;
(MODERATORS - ADD MORE CONTENT HERE).

anyway, please review and post if you find useful.

The current project I'm working on is a HUD article. However, it's taking a bit of time to do since I've got to set up a save where I can engineer all of the possible icon states for screenshots.

Although... if any of you wonderful people out there have some nice screenshots of the various HUD elements and you wanted to share them with us in this thread, I'd be more than willing to incorporate them and it'd get the article out there to you much more quickly. :wink

Resource Icons identified

One small error, the Advanced water plant is listed as advanced power plant.

Could you also double check the icon for perception training? I have no reason to believe that it is wrong except the icon is vault boy shooting a gun, which means the icon that helps defense is not the icon with a gun.

Corrected. I appreciate the assist. I was setting this up in-between reports this morning. :good

While I can't speak to the part about helping defense as of yet, I can confirm that the icon is correct for perception training per the dev team.

Edit: Ignore the question about feedback, I was apparently having a dumb moment.

Huh, where would be the best place for feedback about the icons in-game?

According to the in-game popups, agility helps people do better on martial plots and perception helps water plant workers.

That means:
Martial plot workers are getting better at defense when their training icon is "balancing on a bottle"
Water plant workers are getting better at water creation when their training icon is "shooting a gun."

It is not a huge thing, since I know the icons come from in-game, but it may be unintentionally misleading to people.

No problem, and I understand. I have no clue how they chose the icons they used (I'm just one of the documentation guys), but I can see how that could be confusing. I'd suggest starting a thread in the Make a Suggestion section.

The icons match the appropriate bobbleheads.

They are showing the traditional, established iconography of the SPECIAL stats, not their specific Sim Settlements functionality.

I wonder if the real perception icon was too difficult to translate into that smaller icon format. (the "traditional" perception icon is a vault boy surrounded by an eye, ear, mouth, nose and hand).

All of the others use their primary SPECIAL iconography, but perception uses the Sniper perk icon instead of the normal perception symbol, but those little "sense" symbols around the vault boy are pretty little and probably wouldn't translate super well to a small icon.
