How to control what the munitions plant produces?

Can I control what it produces and assuming so, how do? I've been scouring the videos but haven't found anything specifically explaining how the munitions plant works. Maybe I missed it?

Apparently you are supposed to only leave the ammo samples in the machine which you want it to produce. But it seems to ignore that for me, and just produce random ammo(and reset the samples).
