Question How long should Scav Support take to build?

A

Hey there, my first Scav Support plot seems stuck in building mode. I do not use realistic build times.

Have you left the settlement? Some of the scripts only triggers on a cell load. For that to happen you must first make the game unload the cell. Travel about 1/5 of the map, or longer, fast travel or walk, and then back. This should reload the cell.

Don't know actually. I guess it would. It obviously would need to be loaded into the memory, but if it triggers the right triggers I don't know.

Sim Settlements is designed for the player to play the game. So if you build some stuff, then leave to run around and doing a few quests, and come back after a trip, stuff just works. But we tend to get so involved in building stuff that we never leave the settlement, and then strange stuff happens. Or nothing happen.

I'll report back! Ha! Ok, so what script do you think would be at issue for a plot building? Never had a plot stuck before like that. Something specific to IC?

Yes, 3.03b.

I went back to Starlight and saw that the Scav Dispatcher was now a Scav Sorting red barn looking thing. I used the ASAM and switched back to Scav Support, which then ran and ended just as it should. A desk appeared in the middle with some bricks behind. A few seconds later, another scaffold went up and it is now once again stuck building.

I don't have any other Scav buildings there. I do have some other industrial, but no other Scav facilities so something is amiss (presuming it only looks to the local settlement, though all of my other settlements are RoTC and none have scav support). Also, when I first started up SS, I got three pop-ups in quick succession saying I had the choice of Alt Recruitment, but I choose to just let SS RoTC handle it. Something amiss for sure.

I had that happen at Nordhagen yesterday. Refreshing the plot fixed it without travelling away and back.

Hm. That barn version of Scav Support isn't supposed to turn up unless you already have Scav Support plot.
@mytigio any ideas?

The message is because I failed to clean out one of my building cells, so 3 dispatchers registered instantly.

As for the infinite building: I'm looking into it, folks ahve reported it over in the bugs section.

To clarify: Scavanger Support is just the building with the desk, the actual plots are:

Scav Team Dispatcher
Salvage Sorting Facility
Scavver Shed.

Can you plot down 3 copies of the Scavanger Support plot and tell me which ones do/don't build and what the plaques for each one say once they get stuck?

I certainly can. Will post back. I will put them in a settlement where I have no other plots to boot. Scan Support is by settlement basis, right, not system wide?

correct, although the ones I left in the building cell could be screwing with things a bit since those will be registered as "in" whatever settlement is at the top of the workshop list

So here goes:

Went to Abernathy which has no SS plots at all. Plopped down three industrial and set the first one to Scav Support. Had no free settlers for auto-assign so I assigned settler. Scaffold went up, desk appeared, scaffold went down. A moment later another scaffold went up and stayed up. The pole said it was the Dispatcher.

Assigned a settler to plot #2, set to Scav Support, desk appeared then disappeared, still building. Pole said Sorting.

Assigned a settler to plot #3, set to Scav Support, desk appeared then disappeared, still building. Pole said Shed.

The three plots continued to build for a long time and are still under construction even after I left the settlement. I did get a few notices while in the settlement that a new Industrial was completed, but they weren't complete at all and those three were the only plots there.

Well that's interesting. Maybe something changed in SS in the method I'm using to differentiate the plots.

I went to another settlement and the new interior plot version auto-assigned and randomly picked by RoTC appeared right off (Dispatcher). Settler sits in it and everything, which to be honest is a bit of a novelty as some add-ons seem to have problems with settlers wanting to be anywhere near them at any time. Too much going on for the AI to do their thing!
