You as the player do not need to interact with them. They will automatically upgrade your troop's weapons and armour.

But i have a bunch of armor i want my raiders to use, and i have read in the FAQ that you could use the armory to choose what they wear.

If you want raiders to wear what you choose, select the armory equip option off in their management UI. Or you can globally turn it off in the configuration menu. Then just summon all of your raiders and equip them manually. There is no option to donate gear and have raiders equip what you donate as far as I know.

I've had soldiermanager script spam issues the more raiders I get which isn't as problematic with everything off. I turn all armory options off globally, and don't even build that specific armory plot anymore. Raiders come pre-equipped with decent gear depending on your character level, and you get TONS of weapons and armor from defenses and assaults. Simple enough to go to your outpost, summon all your raiders, and gear them up. Doesn't take too long thanks to all of the awesome features SS and Conqueror have.

If you are playing as a BoS liberator, I also suggest turning off the armory option, and manually up-armor and up-weapon each warrior individually. Because BoS liberator starts after the Prydwen's arrival/Fort Strong quest, you are a modest level, and so are the "bad guys," putting your warriors at a distinct disadvantage.

    Besides, I micro-manage everything.:victory
