How difficult is it to build a SS mod?

Just started working with the CK after watching the tutorial. Its confusing. Hard to find the assets you want.
I think I should watch some videos

I'm really tempted but a part of me is kinda scared ...

It isn't hard really, I would probably start with either a house or a basic industrial plot that just works as a scavenging bench and then build from there. I say that because those are mostly aesthetics and don't require anything extra, so you can learn how to make the plots and integrate them fairly easily before moving on.

As @pyratelv mentions, finding the assets you want can be a chore.

Yep its a bit scary at first, after you actually build something it gets better. Finding assets can be a pain. Best bet is to use filters. say you want a wall; you can use the filter and type wall*brick which will only show you brick walls in the game. the texture doesnt matter because you can change that to whatever you want. Shell walls are best for solid walls, or you filter Shack*wall for a wasteland theme. Filtering will save you.
a little advice on your walls, make sure they are textured on all sides. a lot of stage walls are not. These can cause you a lot of grief when building; if your 1px off everyone will know.
oh and prefix EVERYTHING you use. the longer you play with your ck the easier assets get to be if your prefixing everything.
