This is a big one! The HQ Cell Reset bug will no longer occur for characters created after this patch! Huge shout out to the Patrons who made it possible for me to afford the massive bounties that caught the attention of the devs with engine level monitoring experience to pinpoint the cause!

Full patch notes below:

  • Fixed a data corruption in the Vault75Location override in SS2.esm.
  • Fixed a bug for some players where Captain Wes would be missing during the encounter during “End of the Beginning”.
  • Fixed a bug during the meeting dialogue with the recruitable character “Fishfood” that would cause the conversation to appear stuck.
  • Fixed a bug in the quest “Knowledge Equals Profit” where players could reuse the same item over and over to turn in the quest multiple times.
  • Fixed a bug where if the player completed the quest “Casting a Line” peacefully, the raiders would be left behind indefinitely. They should now be cleaned up the next time the player teleports to an interior. This fix is not retroactive, so existing saves may still have the raiders present.
  • Fixed a bug where attacking synths would respawn regularly near the scavver camp from the quest “Red Handed” even after the quest was completed. This fix is not retroactive, so existing saves may still have the synths present.
  • Berman and Captain Wes now correctly have PC Level Multiplier flag set, which should give them enough health to feel more like boss fights.
  • Fixed a bug during “Moving Day” where the player’s companion could speak some of Jake’s lines.
  • Modified the scripts for the quest “How to HQ” to try and eliminate an issue where some number of NPCs fail to be counted as part of HQ.
  • Fixed clipping issues with the outfits for Stodge, Joe Gallagher, and Fishfood.
  • Added several missing lines from Craig while trapped in the cage during the quest “Branigan’s Bounty”.
  • Fixed a bug that could eventually cause the HQ Cell to reset.
    • Unfortunately, this fix is not retroactive - though we have some potential means we are investigating to prevent and recover this on existing saves created before this fix.
  • [XBox] Regenerated the HQ “Room Control” ASAM Sensor texture to try and fix an issue where it was displaying as missing.
  • Fixed a bug where Lena and Simon would stop responding as expected between when the quest "War is Good for Business" is started and the quest "End of the Beginning" is finished.

Xbox players, the versions to watch for when you can safely update are: 43 of SS2, and version 16 of Chapter 2.

I'm still investigating solutions to prevent the HQ Reset on existing characters, or recover from it if it already occurred - likely will post Public Betas this week to see if the ideas work.

"Long save issue", you're days are numbered you son-of-a-b*tch! Whole Fallout community is on to you now! (EDIT: forgot we have a hilarious swear filter that changes colorful words to "I love you")

You have no idea how happy I am that the raiders will not be hanging out forever in the street near the bloatflies spawn point. That had driven me crazy to the point I killed everybody one time cause I knew at least that way I wouldn’t have to do it later. Jake just said that’s a bummer and we carried on.

So, the HQ fix DOESwork on completly new Saves.
It DOES NOT work on saves which already expirienced the problem.

What about saves which were created before this patch, but have not started any of the HQ quests (still in chapter 1) and have not been near GNR?

characters created, that seems like you need to start a new character. But have hope, for

Seams like a fix may just be around the corner.

How I read it; not yet.

Hi, just wanted to clarify something that was mentioned in another thread, because I haven't been to the HQ yet and I'd prefer not to start a new save. I started this playthrough with Chapter 2 installed and it's been over 30 in-game days, and I haven't started End of the Beginning yet. Does this mean I won't get the HQ cell reset bug during this playthrough? Thanks.

I'm in your boat. But I'm not chancing it. I'll go do other things before taking this on as that seems to be the safest bet.

its a great solution but just like other folks i wonder at wich point of being in HQ does patching to L still prevent the bug or do u need to run a clean char from even before Ch2 ?
i think i still have a safe from just afther moving day in case of emergency ?

Thats what i wanted to ask too more or less... i allready started a new character i did not want to start over... will the bug still come up after updating on a existing character which has not even started ANY SS2 content or even Settlement building at all?

So am I to assume that the "No Lupe available" at HQ is fixed? Maybe??

I think that if it's been 30 in-game days since SS2Ch2 was installed into your playthrough, and you haven't entered HQ yet, you won't have the bug. Hopefully someone can confirm.

Nah... this new character is just a few ingame-days old. But as i said did not touch anything SS2 related yet. And was not even near the Gunners Plaza. Upps... spoilers.

Bug: Jake doesn't do anything on "Moving Day." Spoilers. He already told me about his plans to make GNN the new HQ, talked about the Comm Hub and the antenna and all that. Then he says to follow him... and never moves. Tried leaving GNN and coming back in, tried shooting him - nothing works. Latest version, just updated this morning.
