Question Help with what will be broken if I remove the script extender files.

Hi, I posted the following questions in the Nexus Forum and got the first part to an answer but not sure if the response was from a dev or a mod user. I was waiting for a response to the second part of the question and thought I might actually be best off posting here instead. I can live without electricity grid check and repair, but will this cause any deeper issues not immediately apparent, specifically what files do I need to delete for this to work, and would Chapters 2 and 3 still be mostly functional (as well as the Settlers Patch and Outfit Injection for that matter).

Sim Settlements 2 is the only mod I consider to be absolutely essential (well done folks :D) that requires script extender so really don't want to start a new game until I know.
To be fair, I would bet a step by step to getting it to work without Script Extender and a list of features that would not work without it would be beneficial for a large number of people who have updated to the latest FO4 version while waiting for Script Extender to be updated. Thank you for any help!!

You don't need to delete anything; just install WSFW and SS2. If they don't detect F4SE, then you just won't be able to use the F4SE-enabled features. Otherwise you'll be fine. They can make use of F4SE, but neither requires it.

This is, of course, assuming you're talking about a new play-through. If you're talking about a current playthrough, then you shouldn't be removing mods during it.

Thank you! I'll get it all installed then, thanks for the info.... I assume Sim Settlements 2 hasn't been updated for the new Script Extender yet? I didn't even realise it had been updated, I must have started modding just before it updated as I checked at the time.

No, SS2 hasn't been specifically updated to account for the F4SE updates. You won't be able to get the F4SE-enabled features of WSFW and SS2, but you can use any F4SE mods that have been updated. For example, I'm using the High FPS Physics Fix and the Long Loading Time Fix. Sadly, WSFW/SS2 has been unable to use F4SE to auto-wire city plans I've used.

Its still too early for F4SE stuff. There is rumor of another update to fix the update on the horizon.
So far its seems you have been receiving some half truths.
WSFW and SS2 + CH1 + CH2 + CH3 do no require F4SE. SS2 (to my knowledge) does not use it at all.
WSFW has a soft requirement for F4SE and a F4SE plugin that is only used if you have F4SE installed.
I would not recommend using the latest F4SE with WSFW. The F4SE plugin WSFWIdentifier.dll will require an update to the NG version.
I do not believe the WSFW code has any handling to disable its use of F4SE funcitons if the NG version is installed.
@Torberg see above ^

I'm assuming you are on PC since you are talking about F4SE. I would recommend downgrading until the dust settles on the F4SE landscape.

Thank you all, I'm happy with the above to take a chance with the NG but just not installing any version of F4SE in that case. I would prefer not to downgrade but can certainly live without full functionality of WSFW if it means I get to use SS2 and the 2 chapters. I'm going with disconnecting from the internet when I want to play FO4 so I don't get any further updates until everything is updated but I'll probably just play this out and then uninstall so no need really for me to keep updating everything and changing versions. Thank you both again for all the support! Time get in game then :D
