Question game freeze in diamond city market after update to 4.0.8 - reverted back to 4.0.7b

heads up, this morning, i updated simsettlements 3 in 1 and conqueror to 4.0.8 as i normally do.
i am not playing conqueror but i have it installed in my playthrough, and i am basically playing the vanilla game but with the latest sim settlements and conqueror versions.
i load up my game and it loads without issue - and i need to go to diamond city. i fast travel as normal, spawn in the market place and i interact with solomon and the weapon guy with the massive head on a tiny body. directly after both interactions the game freezes. no ctd, no nothing. just a stuck game screen. difficult to get the game to end and return to desktop but eventually i get it to do that.
it did this, first with solomon and then with the weapon guy in two separate restarts.
i revert back to 4.0.7b and the game continues without a hitch.
not saying it's directly related to this weeks's update, but they are the only two mods i have updated in this play through.
after reverting to 4.07b i also updated industrial cities addon to the latest 'b' patch, but this was after i rolled simsettlements and conqueror back.
just asking the good folk here to keep an eye out - i am absolutely not ruling out my game here, as i restarted the same game twice and the hang occurred after interacting with separate vendors, so it may not be possible to recreate on demand.

actually that reminds me i too had a ctd going into sanctuary. this was directly after upgrading to 4.0.8 as i saved and exited at that location. loaded the game this morning - boom.
however, i went back to a prior save outside of sanctuary and that game loaded and led to the game freeze issues i reported above.
rolling back to the prior release, i can load the sanctuary game without issue.

i use vortex as my mod manager and when i pull down an update, i install that update, and vortex will disable the previous version. all i did was disable the new version and enable the previous version and load my game.
note - this is not the same as removing a mod from a load order, which will break your game, the mod remains in the load order, vortex allows me to remove/deploy cleanly because it makes use of hard links to mod files, so there's never any cruft left.
 
Again I can't replicate this. Sanctuary is empty for me, but RR is a very busy settlement. I can fast travel in and out no problem.
@1ae0bfb8 You're around here long enough to know the problems with Sanctuary and that it doesn't take much to push any PC over the edge around there.
 
yeah, here's the thing - i only have sanctuary built - and it is 99% between the sole survivor's house and the house with the workbench - i dont use about 90% of it.
rr is not occupied and abernathy has a max 16 settlers.
as i said - this has been working with no issue at all before 4.0.8 and after reverting back, works again.
it is very, very odd.
 
The only thing I can think of is with the changes made to the happiness calculation and bed counts there is a burst of script activity going on with this patch. Both of you should maybe find an interior cell and stay there for 15 mins to let scripts clear.
That is pure speculation on my behalf though.
 
could be that, but i cant get that game to load without the game halting at random times, so no waiting to be had.
my sanctuary, and several other settlements were at 100% happiness (I had disabled the covered beds thing because that mechanic severely wrecked several saves).
 
good man - i am reading the other posts as well and knowing computers, i dont really believe in coincidence.
let's wait for the master! ;)

@1ae0bfb8 just like @Phil_T_Casual I can't replicate either. After reading your post this morning I have been trying to replicate either this or @Dante4570 CTD. I am making a video of my test just for fun.

I can confirm just as @Phil_T_Casual said that I updated last night while in an interior cell.

I quickly left the interior cell "The Lexington Laundromat" and CTD with 45 Active Scripts and my file size went up 45,000kb. had been running at 40k.
I restarted at my original save point inside the Laundromat & waited for all the initial scripts to run + about another 2-3 min and left the Laundromat without a problem and scripts were back down to my normal 8 and my file size was back into its progressive curve upward at a normal of 40k - KB


As is, I have been testing Diamond City after finishing Corvega and fast Tvl'ing to DC and can't replicate. I replayed the fast-tvl 3 times then did the vendor thing and everything was fine.

I thought nothing more of it at the time. Good practice that is: updating big mods while in an interior cell and waiting for a while once the game loads the update. The dead give away was the 45 active scripts and jump in file size that were there once I left too quickly.

It is also helpful to run fallrim immediately after a CTD. This has helped me + if you provided a screenshot after the CTD it could provide some insight?

I am having a different issue; game CTD when I get near / Fast Travel to Sanctuary. How do you roll back a patch (I am on a PC)?

@Dante4570, you go back to a save before you updated.

Remove 4.0.8 and enable 4.0.7

As @Phil_T_Casual said I am not sure the two issues are truly related?
