Full Dialog Interface

Hello,

Is Full Dialog Interface compatible with SS2? If not what are the ramifications of using it because I will not play without it these days.

Thanks.

It's compatible, to my knowledge there just aren't the dialogue files for it from SS2 so you still get the abbreviated options to choose from. (Unless I'm wrong and there are dialogue files available that let you see the full text?)

There's nothing specifically for SS2, but I thiiiiink you can still get the full text of a line sometimes (might depend on how the dialogue choice was brought into SS2) (everything is blurring together in my head oops), but yeah, you definitely get a lot of abbreviated lines. But it's functional w/o real issue, which is my criteria for "compatible". ^^; (tbh, I mostly use FDI mostly for the different interface from the arrows (which drive me nuts), so I wasn't thinking about the abbreviations.)

That was a serious question @Skywise001, I'm really not sure what you meant.
There are a lot of recent mods that require XDI. That includes basically anything made by CSEP/Pig (Molly companion mod, Brothers in Arms, Loaded Bases, Home Sick, Commonwealth Killer, All-Americans, etc.) and Point Lookout. Sure, not everybody plays those mods but some folks enjoy those and you need XDI for them.

I believe you. I haven't come across any in my modding that require XDI. If I did I just wouldn't use them. It's just a preference for me as I'm sure the mod is great I just don't like the way it looks. I prefer the simpler appearance of FDI. Also FDI doesn't seem to need as many patches but that could be because I don't use mods that alter dialog that much? I remember back in the day XDI caused a story breaking bug in SS2 during the conversation on the comm hub with the gunners.

Yes XDI can cause problems with cutscenes and different in-game camera settings. That's why I don't personally use it, I was more pointing out what @cbrgamer2 was saying about people not using XDI. There is still newish content that requires XDI. If someone could come up with a better solution for adding more than four dialogue options that doesn't break the in-game camera sometimes, that would be fantastic.

I'm sure there are and I have no opinion on it not having used it - I was more asking about the wording of this :
Most folks seem to use XDI anymore.
It seems that should be either "Most folks seem to use XDI now", or "Most folks don't seem to use XDI anymore". I'm legitimately not sure which one he meant.
(And I'm not trying to pick on grammar either, just seeking clarification as to which meaning it had)
