FO4 won't shut down

I have SS2, 2200+ hours in, game plays very nicely. At the beginning of a new playthrough, when I want to leave the game, I click QUIT or Go to Desktop and within a second or two I am out of the game and on my desktop. The further I play though, as I get into SS2 further and am building settlements, the game won't close. When I hit QUIT, go to desktop, it goes back to the loading screen, then freezes. I have to restart my computer to get out of it. Anyone have any suggestions.

Ive gotten similar problems with the exit save. The only way around it Ive found is to manually save then C+A+D to shut it down - or use steam. If you have Steam cloud turned on it can also cause problems when it tries to log you out and save on your machine and on their machine at the same time.

Thanks for answering. When I do C+A+D, and click task manager, game usually just goes to a still picture of the B&W animated game intro and just locks there. Nothing happens. I'll try turning Steam Cloud off and hope for a better result.

Good luck - let me know what happens.

You might run the steam repair tool on your fallout files too. Couldnt hurt :)

If you have a small load order the save would be useful in diagnosing whats going on.
