Hey so as you guys might be aware of Bethesda is fixed the issue with updating chapter 2 but that’s when everything goes wrong. Chapter 2 or 3is causing visual bugs with lighting causing the sun and many other things that give off light static visuals taking up the whole screen. Ontop of the visual issues it’s also super laggy. Found out it was chapter 2 or 3 is causing this by starting a new save with just SS2 no other chapters and everything running smoothly. Idk if it’s a you guys issue or Bethesda just thought I post this here.
 
After beating chapter 1 on the XSX and building one plot for each available type, I am experiencing frequent crashes in the triangle of death area. In fact, it is running worse than the old game. I am about to try performance mode to see if that makes it playable but I fear this game as always will be plagued by crashes.

SS2 has never performed so poorly for me with the exception of a PC playthrough where I grossly increased build limits at Sanctuary, Red Rocket, and Abernathy Farm. Eventually they got so big Sanctuary could not load. I am still well within default build limits and have not built anything at Red Rocket at all.

None of my recent saves made in Sanctuary load at all! Every one freezes on the load screen but at least the new and improved next gen update simply locks up instead of playing the loading animation so now it is possible to know when the game freezes.

When loading a save made at Red Rocket I received a notice that another script had overwritten something breaking Workshop Framework. I find this odd because I already installed Workshop Framework Script Override which is last in my load order as directed. Something has broken both WF and the script override. This might have something to do with an odd observation I made last night in Sanctuary where only search appeared as a selectable option when centering my cursor over the workshop.

PARTIAL WORK AROUND: Load an older save from a different location on the map then load your latest save. The latest save will probably load just fine but for whatever reason the save probably will freeze if loaded from the main menu. I've also disabled Place Anywhere and can view all Workshop options when placing my cursor over the Workshop. I only used Place Anywhere to build at The Castle due to a collision bug which makes placing objects on floors in the hallways and rooms impossible.

This is a power issue between your settlements I had this issue with starlight drive in. Because all three are in the same cell if one has the issue all three have the issue. That’s why all Settlment builders also recommend not to build at all 3 or even 2 most times being that they all run at the same because they are loaded in. Unfortunately it seems you may be too far in the game to fix it because you probably don’t know when this happened

What kind of power issue? How would it be fixed? I had this issue on PC awhile back and ended up having to do a remote reset of Sanctuary using the holotape. I have not built anything at Red Rocket but I do have the Rise of the Commonwealth plan at Abernathy Farm. Are there any good utilities for fixing stuff like this? I found Buffout 4, Disk Cache Enabler, and Baka Scrapheap Script Memory Limit Expander worked great on PC.

The loading issue you are describing is a known base game issue and can be replicated without any mods. I have no idea why it happens, but its maddening to deal with so I understand your frustration. When looking at CPC saves it could sometimes take me 45min to get a save loaded.

PC intel 4080ti steam version. I just recently started playing FO4 again. I do not think it is a true bug. I have to find the RR guy but can not find him anywhere. said forget. Then I had another thing to kill stuff at BADFTL. Can not do it nothing there to kill. New content added i think it was called "The Devil" which also has me going to BADFTL but no go. Problem is BADFTL has been highjacked by the CPD and there is no way to revert the place like the other ones that get highjacked.

yeah the new CC content conflicts so SS2 is going to need a patch related to that

Everything works fine once the entirety of the settlement is loaded. There seems to be a bottleneck when loading large settlements. This would also explain why the game crashes easily in the event of random settlement attacks. Surprised "performance mode" didn't address this.

I don't see why the devs can't program it not to try loading so much so fast. I recall on the PC learning that the game didn't use as much system resources as it could, so in some ways having a faster machine wouldn't matter. Mods I mentioned earlier at least allowed for some optimization there. It seems like a self imposed bottle neck.

There should be an intercom toggle on the BADTFL door to revert it to the vanilla cell.

Or have you not done any CPD quests? If you haven't triggered those quests, then it is already the vanilla cell.

Im playing on XBOX.
Looks a lot like the mod load order I have on Xbox but Sanctuary always crashes now unless I start a remote recovery. I think the issue is with a commercial plot because there is a part of the settlement where I put all my commercial plots one for each class. I'm just using Chapter 1 right now. I'm looking for a way to destroy the power grid remotely because even after running the remote recovery tool it still crashes if I try to replace everything with a city plan. Also, scrap settlement doesn't work because it leaves a bunch of stuff (mostly lights) floating in the air.

I somehow managed to get into Sanctuary without it crashing finally. I looked at the ground the entire time and stopped whenever it studdered. Then I deleted all but one commercial plot one by one. So far it has not crashed. I will try gradually rebuilding those plots one at a time further apart and wait to see if adding any specific one causes the same problem.

UPDATE: Right after typing the last paragraph I entered workshop mode and the game crashed again. Can't load saves made inside the settlement either. You'd think a "next gen" update would take advantage of the XSX's superior hardware to make settlements of any size perform smoothly.

I'm doing "how to hq" right now. But I got stuck on a step "8. Build the Living Quarters".
The problem is that the task does not complete and the room does not change.
Is this a problem with the latest update? (April 25, 2024)

There is a problem currently where MALA gets unassigned. If you assign her manually via the command mode menu (like you do for other settlers), see if it will work. There is a proper fix for this in the next patch.
 
Xbox one X Brand new game have played up tell I rescued Jake from the gunners at the Malden vault. Was noticing that none of the Concord settlers have been appearing. Only the Preacher and Branigans Caravan has showed up at this point. Also none of there quest have shown up in the churchs bilboard.

Game keeps crashing after the new update every time I try and go into sanctuary, what shall I do? I’m on Xbox series x.

Have you completed Brannigan's quest? That's necessary to have the others start appearing.

I can't assign it as in the settlers or I don't understand how to do it. I have installed the latest fix. The problem remains.
