My way of playing the FO4 is for best solution - peace between the factions... as much as possible. Maybe the canon isn't how I would see it - meaning the philosophical discussion who is evil or good.
I see all groups, including the Lone Survivor, working to survive in the Commonwealth. Raiders, BoS, Railroad, Mutants, etc... even vault tech, which I thought was the original evil IMO and that the Raiders/Mutants were the bad uglies to kill so the Lone Survivor can survive and save the Commonwealth.
My slant, and opinion, is that all have worked to survive in some fashion. From Vault Tech building vaults to save the inhabitants (though covered by odd experiments to justify - but why vaults?), to the mutation of the Super Mutants (genetic manipulation), to Technology is the salvation (Institute), Technology is the evil and must be controlled (BoS)... at least in my opinion, all factions could be considered monsters to achieve their goals - to survive - including the Lone Survivor. Doesn't the LS make a moral decision as to who is bad and good? I think back to the conversations of the Raiders, about hope the next one dies clean, or one more hit and they are done.
What I am wondering, and sorry if long winded, with the SS addon's, we have minutemen, Institute, BoS, and the Railroad... but no Raider or Super Mutant factions. Strong is a good Companion at times...
I use the Abduction Mod to capture Raiders and Mutants to set up their own settlements. Mutants were made that way - they had no choice. Raiders and Minutemen are simple folks left out of the vaults, but in some way, found a way to survive.
My settlements I build with Raiders and Mutants are to give them a chance in the Commonwealth. These 2 groups, as well as the minutemen, got the raw deal in having to survive.
Maybe my understanding of the canon is not correct, but have the MA's considered adding other "factions" of people?
And yes, I find this game a very philosophical story / lesson for us all.
Just thought for the week.
