ESL vs ESP?

I know IDEK uses the ESL (not sure why) and I'm thinking about installing All Settlements Extended to increase the build areas. ASE has both ESP and ESL options and I'm wondering if there's a reason I should pick one over the other or another reason to avoid one option? I'm not close to the 255 mod limit and probably never will be if that's the only advantage for ESL.

TIA...

ESL are the same format most creation club mods use. It is treated like a master file but does not count on the 255 mod limit if i remember right

Yeah but other than the mod limit (I'm only at 120-ish so I'm safe from the 255 limit) is there a reason to pick ESL over ESP or vice-versa?

personal i prefer the ESl when I can get them but I have not found anything as to what makes them better if you are not up there on the number of mods you are useing

I asked the mod author and he said they were identical if I wasn't close to 255 but the esl is more future proof so that's what I used.

I have the ESL and it does add to the 255 count. This occurs on other ESL's I have. I do have the last NMM version before vortex - which is .60.19 ... something like that. Not sure exactly why it still clicks the count meter.

Future proof is the MA's answer I believe.

I run 64.0 I think it handles esl better but you'd have to try it to see if it works for you...
