end of Picking Up The Pieces (SS2_Sirick_MQ14) Aiden "Yeah?" "Hi" "Hey" "Yeah?"

I kinda want to just
CompleteQuest SS2_Sirick_MQ14
or
SetStage SS2_Sirick_MQ14 140 (140 is Quest Complete according to the SS2 wiki)
but I've had bad experiences with forcing quests to advance or complete in the past. I'd rather figure out why Aiden is just standing there at/in/near the Concord hardware store and not telling me that Jake was kidnaped or whatever (I forget, been a while since I finished Pt 1).

Tried searching the forum but if there is an answer there I can't find it. Searching for Picking Up The Pieces Aiden or Picking Up The Pieces won't finish gives me lots of results, many of which are unrelated to this issue. Sorry if I missed something horribly obvious.

Do you have SS2 Chapter 2 installed? Picking up the Pieces is the last MQ for SS2 chapter 1.

I have pretty much the same problem. Aiden does not really respond to me. Jake is gone and I dont know what to do. I do know that when I first went to talk to Jake my PC crashed to desktop and when I logged back on and attempted to continue I found this problem. I do not have SS2 Chapter 2 installed.

If you don't have Sim Settlements 2 - Chapter 2 installed, then Picking Up the Pieces is the last quest for the SS2 Story for you.
There is nothing more, so Aiden isn't going to have more to say to you. He would if you had Chapter 2 installed.
It's been so long since I played without Chapter 2, but you should have received a message of some sort saying that you'd reached the end of the Chapter 1.

Sim Settlements 2 - Chapter 2

So I don't have to let Jake know that I found the last ASAM Sensor Scanner result until I install Chapter 2? I am very new with SS2 so I never know when I am messing things up. The fact that I am a 68 year old techy doesn't really help things.

You actually can't, because Jake isn't there ;) No more story until Chapter 2 !

Thank you. I am struggling along with a lot of this stuff but I really like the concept of the mod. Now I just have to figure out how to deal with some of my settlements having 9 settlers more than there are beds to sleep in.

I'm almost positive my first playthrough had him telling me we have to go find him, then another dialog box saying "Stay tuned for ch.2" which I hadn't installed at the time. Currently doing a re-runthrough of the SS2 quests (with zero to minimal involvement in others) to confirm for sure if he has any lines in Chapter 1 before it officially ends.

OK here's a weird question, have any of you finished Chapter 1 without doing the supermutant side quest?
Personally I have only done that quest twice in all my playthroughs (we're talking 20+ at this point).
It has always been optional, and ever since the Boxes of ASAMs in Jake's store got made lootable its even less relevant than it was to do it.
A pity since friendly Muties are always entertaining, and I hope they get to reappear in Ch3.

I'm most confident that it's a mod conflict, but I'm just throwing crazy ideas out there. In this case, the main quest breaking because it expects you to do a specific side quest. But if you've done it all around 18 times without that side quest and never ran into this issue, then I'm just being superstitious.

I honestly can't see how that'd be a mod conflict, unless there's something somewhere out there directly editing that specific quest - but stranger things have happened...

Although, thinking further... are you running ANY other mods that even so much as touch either NPCs in general or the town of Concord?

After disabling most mods, starting a new game, and using SQT & MovetoQT to speed to the end, I was able to get to Aiden's final dialogue "Huh. Was wondering when you'd show up." and that's without installing chapter 2.

Soooo ... after the whole "disable most mods, new game, MovetoQT SS2_Sirick_MQ01,02,03,etc" testing, I was able to get Aiden's "Was wondering when you'd show up." conversation and the "Chapter I -- Complete" messages (again, without Chapter 2). I re-enabled the mods and sure enough it was back to "huh?" "yeah" etc.

So I disabled the last 5 mods in the load order
  • RRTV_BunkerZulu.esp
  • HC_InstituteFastTravelDLC.esp
  • LooksMenu.esp
  • immersivefasttraveldlcpatch.esp
  • AsukaClothOfficer.esp
And got "Was wondering when you'd show up." back.

I re-enabled them one by one, testing each time, and after all 5 were put back, it still finished Chapter 1 with all Aiden's lines. So I guess mod conflicts are tempermental?

Testing for mod conflicts is a tricky business. Glad you got it working correctly.
