Playing with Sim Settlements alongside Salvage Beacons, one thing that's struck me is that I never have a free settler to assign to the task of collecting my beacons. When I started thinking about this, the one thing I kept coming back to was that it would be a great option to be able to add a bit of modern automation. Automatron adds Eyebot pods, and there are Protectron and Mister Handy charging stations in the base game (though strangely Nate and Nora don't have one for Codsworth). I think it would be a nice option, especially for people for whose build doesn't include Local Leader, if science-y types had the option to apply their Science or Robotics Expert ranks to the task of building some sort of robot drone station that can handle pickups without human assistance. When used with Sim Settlements, the disadvantage of the robot station over the traditional salvage system could be in adding to a settlement's maintenance costs, as well as needing to use multiple units of power - maybe three.

in a couple of my settlements i actually assigned a built robot to the salvage desk.....while the robot doesn't actually hang out at that desk, it seemed to work otherwise. just a thought. however, having an additional option to the salvage desk is never a bad thing. I'm not a modder by any stretch, but i'm sure someone could rig something up within the current salvage mod with KG's approval, to fulfill your idea.

It's something you can do, with Automatron, but it's also my understanding that Kinggath prefers his mods not be dependant on addons not everyone has, so I thought a solution that people with just the base game can use might be preferable.
