No Response Does dying before conqueror setup finishes break it?

As the title says, I died before the scripts all finished. I can't build anything in Red Rocket or Sanctuary, and I don't see any sign that the scripts are still setting things up. Do I need to start a new game?

It should resume from your last save but the progress bar may not return.
How long have waited for? can take up to 2 hours.

Try going to V111 or diamond city and hang around for 30 mins or so and see if everything has built up.

Those two specifically, or anyplace that takes you out of the Commonwealth Worldspace?

I can't get to diamond city yet (survival mode), but the drive in theater and abernathy are both built up with buildings. However, abernathy had buildings before I died (I died getting their locket back). Is there any way for me to tell if its working from those beginning areas? Or, is there any key information I should look for to tell if its still doing setup?

I find waiting in vault until 100% done makes all playthrough way better, I'd recommend starting over doing that. Everytime I have done otherwise late game I find out group manor or somewhere is broken and now I have a week invested in the playthrough instead of a few hours.

@uituit , @RayBo, @Phil_T_Casual , @bullyrook @Yagisan : Can y'all think of any scripts to look for in ReSaver that would indicate whether setup was still running?

I don’t know.

So, when I don’t know I look at them, ask myself what might do the trick. Make a list and then in groups remove them. It can take awhile if you have never benched marked what is normal for your save and if there’s a bunch then a lot of restarting from a controlled save.

Kind of why I didn’t answer. I guess some and trial and error more when it comes to terminating / deleteing active scripts.

In this case since I don’t know that deleting active scripts would work or be the problem? I would just roll back the save to the point before dying and wait longer in the vault.

To me this early game is to soon to gimmick a solution to this kind of problem. The game for me has to be perfect when I hit codsworth or I go back and fix it. In this case wait and try not to die. :)

As @RayBo says, rolling back a save if a far better option than delete active scripts. That's a nuclear option and requires some cmds to get things up and running again.

I would also like to point out that I know very little about scripting, sure I can tell when things are bloated and what to do to fix that, but to be able to read them to tell when a process has finished running.... not a hope! :)

Total agreement about staying in the vault until the setup is completed.

For the record, I wasn't asking about deleting scripts, I wondered if any of the scripts that were running might indicate if the setup had completed or not.

I guess so. I hoped we could find another way.

Get yourself into the cryo unit, then go watch a movie or something.

Oh man, I was in no way trying to imply that it wasn't a good question. I kind of miss-understood what you were saying and I was jumping ahead. I don't want to confuse anyone and mostly myself. I have never seen or heard of a way to kick-start something like that, only remove them. So, my response was based on the idea to maybe remove some so the timer could start again If rolling back was not an acceptable option.

I wrote something about how I install mods now to avoid early problems. "BaGs - in relation to scripted mods"

With the advent of conqueror and as many script heavy mods I run, I try to hold off on installing scripted mods until after exiting the vault. Only a very few at the start, one being Conqueror or mods like it.

We love you man :byeand appreciate you pushing the question. :clap

I think sometimes I want to tell users "maybe", vs a point-blank answer like roll-back, even though that is exactly what I would do.

And, I look at every game in a way that is unacceptable to most users. :shok1 I never get attached to a game until after around level 20. If in any way I am nursing a game at that point I cut my losses and take it behind the barn and :shok shoot it. :focus Then, try again. :moil

hahaha, to me Any Save file less than lvl 20 is nothing more than a test save.

:angel After, 20 it's ok to try to have a relationship with :crazy hahaha :hearts

Ok, I am not funny :nea

Me, too. About to pick out tonight's movie while I start my third one of the week.

I wanna see how these look.

Really you should never leave V111 until its done, but going to another worldspace should be ok as well.

Ok, I let it run for a few hours, the scripts got to step 4/4, but I didn't see it actually finish, it was just gone. Is there a message when it finishes, because I still cannot build anything in sanctuary or Red Rocket in my new game?

If you choose popups in the setup wizard, you'll get a message, otherwise the progress bar finishes and you're done.

did the other settlements build cities for you?

Yes, the other settlements I have been to seem to have fully functioning. Everything seems ok except when I try to build anything, it won't let me build. The water spigot for example, seems to correctly detect dirt, it changes to green and it all looks like it should build, but the enter button remains dark.

Follow up, I started a new game, chose not to have conqueror settlements, same result. Conqueror is the only mod I installed, but it required updating all of the sim settlements and workshop plus stuff, so I am reinstalling all of it from scratch. This is also my first big upgrade to sim settlements with the Vortex client rather than the old nmm.

Edit: Downloaded everything again, full reinstall from the beginning and it is working now on my newest save. Thanks for the help.
