Crash to Windows

Just restarted playing fallout 4 again about 5 days ago after a break, went through all sim settlements related mods and upgraded to latest. After trouble free playing until about level 10, the game started to crash to windows. Generally haven't been settlements when it crashes or any other consistent causes. I will be running around sometimes in conflict and sometimes not. Then straight to windows I go, no error messages or warning at all. So heres what I have tried
' Removing all file names in fallout 4 with cc in front
' Removing all mods with only sim settlements three in one file
' disabling fallout 4 from going in or out of the firewall
' Upgraded Graphics software
' Removing sim settlements three in one and installing sim settlements, industrial revolution and Rise of the commonwealth
' Dropping back sim settlements file to version 3.4.6
' Verifying game files through steam, 4 were found to be missing so install them
' Reducing graphics from ultra

Heres what I have under the hood
Windows 10 Home 64bit
AMD Ryzen 5 1600
16GB Dual channel ram @ 1330mhz
Gigabyte AB350-Gaming M/B
Nvidea GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
One SSD which is just for windows, game runs from a Western digital sata drive

There is no consistency between crashes, sometimes Ill play for 20mins and sometimes for 90mins

Any help is appreciated

should also point out that this has never happened before

I understand you have disabled / etc. I had a similar problem a while back. I think you have or had a mod conflict your hardware specs are fine. For me the same symptoms always started around level 10 and would CTD doing things like drawing a weapon running, fast travel anything. Turned out it was an old mod that made a bridge to Spectacle Island. It took me entirely too long to figure that one out. Took me three-game restarts when all I needed to do was disable that one mod. Now to be fair that mod was likely ok by itself so were the mods that conflicted with it but the combination was the glitch. What was hard was the symptoms gave no indication to the issue.

This may be different but then it gets harder.

Ok, sounds like you have tried all that though..

I would literally do a totally vanilla start "clean install everything and verify the game files", get to level 10-12 then start slowly enabling mods. That way you have a nice clean stretch of vanilla saves. Then layer the mods in the load order you will be using. Also all the big mods like SS, I would manually install.

When I say clean I am saying make sure all the fallout 4 ini files have been removed, video card profiles, purge everything and rebuild it from scratch.

If the vanilla install turns up the same problems then start looking at potential hardware or driver issues?

There are also other tools like
Papyrus log, needs the creation kit? Maybe could expose the CTD issue but you will need someone smarter than me to help with that.
Fallrim, humm don't think this will help here?

BTY - that is an excellent profile picture!

Sorry, you are having problems.

Thanks Ray Bo. The thought of uninstall and reinstall and start from new makes something inside me cry. However this issue is really starting to bother me. Each night im looking up similar things and trying the next day. Get through an hour and then crash, just guts you :(. And yeah I love my pic as well. Found him about two years ago and throw him on all my user pics.

Solved, After reformatting drives and re installs I have found the issue, I had downloaded the higher level graphics patch and although I could play without any issue in vanilla. As soon as sim settlements, rotc, or most other mods were installed I would randomly crash.

So much easier if it had just been a mod conflict.
Glad you got it figured out.

Marked as Solved and Moved - Please let me know it this is not the case :)
