Continuous power issues

I'm getting tired of having to re-wire Sanctuary every time I leave and come back. I've got the latest updates with hotfixes. I've started a fresh new game. It's poles and wires I have placed. I'm willing to concede I'm doing something wrong but I can't imagine what it is. I've wired towns before. It's not complicated. But every time I leave the area and come back power is in the red and every.damn.wire has to be reconnected. I'm tired of it. I'm at the point were I just want to disable the requirement. Is there a way to do that?

So I've now got a new working theory on the power issue - will take a while to verify, but my guess is that some object(s) used on certain building plans are actually creating corrupt power grids. That would explain why the issue is inconsistent, but seems to hit the same settlement's over and over again.

I was actually just about to update my earlier post. Sanctuary, which I built by hand, is still working great. At all the other settlements I used the basic SS2 plans. When I checked back at Abernathy it was broken again. I haven't been to Starlight yet, but I just got notifications plots are upgrading after I had rewired it earlier. So I'll see how it looks when I visit.

As an update to this- I'm almost 100% confident that what was causing the grid at Abernathy to constantly corrupt is the SS2 basic city plan.

From my testing, just re-wiring would still break, replacing just the power poles but leaving connectors as they were would still break, however replacing and/or picking up and placing down every item a wire can connect to will create a working grid that doesn't continue to corrupt. I did the same test at Starlight with the same results.

So it seems to me that something about the SS2 city plans that I've tried so far is causing the issue. My hand built sanctuary is great, and now both Abernathy and Starlight have been for a while.

This might explain why only half my Sanctuary project (no city plan) decided to lose power. It was obnoxious and annoying. My power meter read 0, my water read 0, but the HUD showed water plant was powered. I ran some new wires, rerouting electricity, and power meter went up, but water was still at 0. It was so frustrating.

I had to restart out of frustration. And I'm going to try something new. Does anyone know if power poles are required or if I can turn off the setting to auto-build power pole, then plop down a conduit for each plot?

What others have done is use a mod that adds a power pylon with a radius that covers the whole settlement.

As for the plot question, turn off Auto place power poles in the City Manager Holotape. You should also turn off Auto Wire Settlement (name? I think in the WSFW settings) if you have F4SE installed.

If you have my addon or Tiny Living by Freddrick you can set the power pole to "None" at the ASAM > Advanced > Default Power Pole.
(There may be other addons that add a "none" power pole that I don't know about)

No. All plot spawned poles must be scarped manually in workshop mode. Thanks to the way the vanilla game works that can't be automated or you risk being victim of the scrap crash.
