Let's use this thread to post any issues with the 4.2.2 feature that lets Conqueror (and Liberator) players add Faction NPCs to a squad.

Q: My Personal Guards get stuck and won't continue to follow me.
A1: Fast travel to a new destination should bring all of the guards in the squad to the new location.
A2: Try the Instant Rally command to see if they teleport to you. (does not work in combat)
It appears, however, that once well and truly stuck, the Guards don't seem to respond to any command (Rally, Instant rally, or even fast travel). Details to confirm this from different players would be appreciative.

If you are experiencing this issue, please double check that your squad settings are NOT set to Wait. This could park your squad members after you've given them an order.

If you could, please provide screenshots of the personal guards menu. we're trying to narrow this down.

If your guards are not following you or not fighting make sure your settings are like this:

It seems that the squad members can build up rads, and eventually drop dead at 1000. There's no indication, other than checking with the console, and I don't know of a ingame way to remove rads from NPCs.

If you have one with you for long enough, it's basically just a time bomb.

I watched KG's video on 4.2.2 and there are 2 potential bugs (I have screen shots, if needed):
  1. Personal Guard Options - my Autoloot has no options (I do not use MCM)
  2. Personal Guard Slots - the game instructions state 1 for 20 levels and in the video it was 1 for 10 levels.

Created a squad of 4 BoS knights and attacked the Weston plant and:
  1. I am a level 41, but was only able to create a 4 man squad whereas I was expecting 5 (3 initially and 1 for each 20 levels)
  2. as expected, squad members can not enter a vertibird
  3. at Weston, both inside and outside, the squad performed as expected (probably better than a companion)
  4. inside - using the elevator was a problem. To get past this, had the 4 squad members stay and escorted each into the elevator, one at a time. Interestingly Danse remained on the upper floor unlike normal companion behavior.
  5. after leaving, had the squad hold while I looted, and walked outside the gate entrance and used the rally command - the 4 squad members appeared to be stuck at the entrance. Danse did follow me. Walked about 100 ft away and used the instant rally and 3 members appeared, but the 4th was still stuck at the entrance, see image.
  6. Fast traveled to Graygarden and everyone appeared
  7. Took a vertibird to Boston Airport and used Instant Rally and everyone appeared.

I encountered this while playing as a Minuteman using the We Are the Minutemen mod. Went into the glowing sea and everyone in the attached minuteman squad died. In my current game, I am playing as BoS liberator, and eventhough, the BoS fatigues include some rad protection, if you find a way to remove rads, please let me know.

In general, the squad mechanic is working reasonable well, except for getting stuck. Today:
  • Fast traveled to TenPines with Danse and 4 Guards
  • Walked to Outpost Zimonja and had the squad Hold while I scouted the Outpost
  • After walking back to the squad just west of the Outpost, issued the Rally command and only Danse followed
  • Issued Instant Rally and the squad appeared behind me
  • Blissfully walking to Starlight and was attacked by 2 raiders - squad took them out before I even responded (2 auto-plasma rifles and 2 miniguns will do that)
  • Walked to Drumlin and issued Hold command, and after leaving the Diner issued the Rally command and they were again stuck. Walked toward Red Rocket and issued the Instant Rally command and that worked
  • Walked back to Drumlin, issued the Hold command and then the Rally command, and the squad got stuck
  • Fast traveled to Drumlin and that fixed the problem
Once the problem of the squad getting stuck is fixed, Kinggath and the team have a !00% winner

PS: After Command setting is Follow

I turned off the armory equip for each of my personal guards through the manage menu, but upon arriving in an outpost they are still auto equipped with new armor AND this process sometimes causes them to lose whatever they previously had equipped. For example, a guard in sunglasses was equipped with a gas mask, un-equipping his glasses, when i went to go make him re-equip his sunglasses they were no longer in his inventory. The loss of items from their inventory has not happened every time, but it's annoying and i don't want to remove the armories from my outposts.

Currently running a newly started Raider game on Survival. Set up three personal guards for myself, and set them to immortal. Everything seemed to be working correctly for the most part. Started a raid to make a Slavers Outpost out of Red Rocket. Getting annihilated by the Gunners there, which would be fine, I can take it slow and work through it - except my guards keep dying three seconds into the battle. Checked that they were set immortal - yes. Turned it on and off. Still dying. Picked up all my mines to make sure I wasn't blowing them up - still dying.

Could it be related to the fact that my regular soldiers are not immortal? I might try setting all my raiders to immortal (if that's even a setting) and reporting back.

When I fast travel to my first outpost (starlight), the armory equips my dudes, despite my having said don’t. That was mildly irritating, until today, when it began equipping their less useful items and armor in place of the finely crafted and beautiful uniforms I have given them.

This happened to me, see the thread that Rudy noted above: Walked to Abernathy and had 2 problems - (1) in-route, message saying, more or less, warriors received upgrade from local armory - I have not built an armory and all my warrior's armor and weapons were de-selected,

I had a strange thing happen and I'd like to hear if anyone as seen this. I'm running the Children of Atom liberator faction pack by Tinuvia and Myramachne
I recruited a special unit and added them to my Personal Guard squad. when I went run a Redemption (raid) I was able to add that Special Unit to the assault. Weird.
So I did. Sorta forever testing, you know?
Now that Special Unit is no longer in my squad (at least doesn't come hither when summoned).

I've had the first part of that happen with just a raider veteran from jammers gang; they were my personal guard and my only raider veteran, but I had the option to add them on raids and always selected them just because. They were never removed from my squad though. After 3-4 raids like this, the option to add them stopped appearing, but they're still in my squad so not quite the same.

I seem to have an issue where my companions (vanilla ones) seem to just continuely run away from me since this update. they will even leave the buildings im in through doors (the ones that transfer you to new location)

ok really weird, i recruited mcready and he ran away from goodneighbour all the way to a spot in between USAF station olivia and tenpines bluff. Its strange because hancock appeared to be running to the same place (got as far as USAF and i lieft him to it) what could be directing them to there? Theres no map marker where they stop so god knows???

@louisjk1990_SS - I saw something similar. When I turned my squad's aggression off Engage, they up and decided to run somewhere. This was just before a walk and talk with Ophelia - I stopped them because they were running down the W&T path and I was worried that'd bork something.
And when I've switched them to Pacifist stance, they've run off for some period of time....
