I don't know if this is possible, and this may already exist, but it may be a good idea to have some console commands for use with Sim Settlements. (Not pre existing ones, new ones that are meant to go with Sim Settlements.)
Some possible functions I've had in mind:
  • Increase or decrease a plots level.
  • Prevent a plot being auto assigned to.
  • Prioritize a plot for auto assignment.
  • Instantly complete a plots building or upgrading.
  • Complete a plots research quest.
If anyone has more ideas for console commands, or anything else to say, feel free to reply:cool:

Those are the ones I'm talking about. And for the most part they will mess things up.
And forget trying to complete a quest with commands... KG has coded them to pretty much make it a PIA to bypass.

Who is the intended user of the console commands?

While I like the sentiment, like Yagisan and woodfuzzy, I don't know if it would be a good idea to put out a public set of console commands that any old user can use to do those things. Users can, and often do, really mess themselves up using console commands, and I'd worry that the majority of PC players would default to using those console commands for most advancement as opposed to letting the mod run as intended. Doing so could have both negative consequences for the health of their save files, and make the job of troubleshooting what is going wrong when things break much, much more challenging.

It's not that I don't like cheating... cause I doooo! :)
But snarky put it very well.
And being an alpha tester... I very familiar with the hazards guarded console commands. LOL

Mostly for dealing with bugs. Thats what I use console commands for. Other then that, they may be useful for people developing city plans, or people who are testing new versions before release. However, I understand your and everyone elses arguments, and I'm pretty sure this idea may not be so good at this point.

Testers and developers do have access to debugging tools, so not to worry. But some of those tools could cause issues if misused.

For users, the quickest way to get everything to update is, low involvement, turning off tech and housing requirements, and turning off realistic build times.

FYI - even I have to do the quests manually, and I'm the most prolific city plan maker here!
(You might notice there is no solar tower in my plans - I haven't finished that quest line yet!)
