I use a mod called Access Pre-War Power Lines which adds power lines and nodes that connect to the street power poles. It doesn't add them to every settlement, but only those that have some indication of power when you first find the settlement, like Red Rocket Truck Stop. You can use these power nodes to tap into the grid for power. When a settlement has a deficit and equipment starts to break down, i.e. it starts emitting smoke, normally you can manually repair it. However, the power nodes added by this mod have no repair option and emit smoke perpetually after initially falling into disrepair. They continue to work, they just stay in the "broken" state indefinitely. It would be great if SS could just ignore these nodes entirely.
