Question Companions Turn Hostile

Playing as a Liberator faction, when I begin an assault and make the first attack, my companions always turn hostile and begin to attack me. I wasn't certain if there was any good way around this, or if I should be leaving companions behind when I do this.

IDK, below is what I did?

I had a problem with Piper once.

I rolled back and replayed.

My problem was a crossfire that hit some of the hostages. I assaulted the settlement from a different angle and she was then fine as none of them took FF hits.

My instance was shooting turrets, causing Codsworth to go hostile.

Then yeah, I would leave her behind.
