sanctuary - built a clean double bed from wasteland resource kit, for piper, she also the major of the town.

many times when i came back, the bed is unassigned, piper assigned to a residential plot.

can't u put a simple code like: if settler assigned a bed, don't change it.

You can change the settings for both SS2 auto assignment and Workshop framework auto assignment and set either to on or off. If SS2 auto assignment is on it will take precedence over WSHW IIRC. For SS2 you can change it in the holotape and/or via MCM menu. WSFW can be changed via MCM menu (don't remember if it has a holotape).

ss2 is auto assign
wsfw assign is off

this still doesn't make sense.
if a settler already has a bed, regardless its ss2 or vanilla bed, the mechanism shouldn't chg it.

the auto assign is suppose to assign settler without bed

it's kinda a basil assumption in the autoassignment code that residental plots are better then default beds, so this is not unexpected behavior. you SHOULD be able to change the autoassignment so names NPCs (i.e. not random settlers) are not automatically reassigned away from beds, but i'd have to dig through the MCM menu to find the exact option.

This "not unexpected behaviour", either it's just an excuse not to fix it, or plain bad design.

Whichever better option should be up to the player. Player may spend efforts to make a better place for a specific to stay as home. Ss2 is just a mean to easily build stuffs in settlement.

so, in prinicple, i completely agree. I'm in favor of "i care about" sliders for every setting. Look at the settings in the MCM or the City manager holotape. i am sure you will find settings to adjust that behavior.

on the other hand, if you want fine grained control over assignments, you should turn off auto assignments and manage them manually. you don't get to argue the behavior is wrong because you are inconvenienced and unwilling to adjust it.
