Vanilla Bug - Unsolved Commercial acting as guard posts.

Hey,

I've lots of plots below the bridge in Sanctuary. Two of the commercial shop plots are acting really strange, providing defense instead of shops. While assigned the owners give generic settler response like "hope you ain't here for me" and "i've lost count of how many blisters I've got".

I've noticed you cannot use the plot refresh or call town meeting tools from the holotape in this area, as it says you need to be inside your settlement to use them.

The armor and commercial shops do provide defense, that's normal. Can you try sleeping for a night to see if the dialogue options update on the assigned shopkeepers?

There are areas near the edges of the settlements that don't detect correctly for some reason - for plot refreshing, you can use the Immersion Breaker Breaker to do so manually on the plots in those areas.

I force updated the plots with the immersion breaker breaker, and then slept 24 hours. No change.

Continuing on the same save, I forced the plots to update again, (also hit the store owners for good measure even though that don't do nothing), flew to Starlight Drive in and slept another 24 hours. Flew back to Sanctuary, no change.

Then I reloaded my save. Scrapped and rebuilt the plots. No change.

Loaded another character. Built two commercial plots in the same area, then I cycled through all your basic commercial structures, and a couple of addon pack structures.

This issue seems to only affect weapon shops and armor shops. The other four basics are assigned just fine, and you have the shop dialogue right away.

Last, I successfully built both the armor and weapon shops further into the settlement and got the shop dialogue right away.

I think this might be a vanilla issue- there are areas inside of each settlement that are incorrectly tagged as not being part of it. If you have HUDFramework installed, you can find these areas because the Sim Settlements hud will disappear when you're in them.

Right you are!

The holotape tools don't work in these "dark areas" either.

Case closed!

ha! i always wondered about the hud disappearing on me in the settlements. Assumed it was a SS bug but never cared to say anything.

I got some more info on this. If you can get the shopkeeper out of the dark area, you get the shop dialogue...

Ring the bell first, then use call town meeting, and they will all stand like a nice flock of sheep, without following you.
