City plans don't work.

Basically, after assigning the city leader and that flying camera cutscene nothing happens. No new plots, settlers are just walking around. Tried this in Sanctuary (it reverted everything I previously scrapped btw) and the Castle. I have 21 ASAMs on me, should I put them somewhere? Tried refreshing the City Plan - nothing happens. What should I do?

The problem is still there :(
Also, when I try to donate something through the city planner's desk, it throws everything right back at me, because "not enough storage".

Put down some of the storage containers that are in the SS workshop menu, the settlers have to have someplace to put the donations.

I built some containers and donated a lot of supplies, but still settlers don't build anything. Also, apparently, ASAMs can't be donated.

Yeah, I’m on a Xbox One X a s it’s doing the same thing for me. There is a YouTube streamer who is having similar problems “KottabosGames.” He’s on a PC.
Mentioning Kottabos reminds me of something he keeps saying as if it's true in that series that I thought was false.
To anyone reading: How do City Leaders actually work? Do they use the SPECIAL stats of the person, or just their "leader traits" (if they have any)?

From my recollection it was mentioned in a video. Just the traits.

Did you try setting your character in a corner indoors within the bounds of that settlement, not looking at anything more complex than a wall or floor, and leave them there for a while (with the game unpaused)?

there's a great article I just read, I think it's on here somewhere, about how the game renders, and how your FPS is actually tied to the scripts. Was eye opening for me and it's changed the way I play. I think it was about the triangle of death (sanctuary, red rocket, Abernathy). I will try to find it again and link it here. It's super informative.

Edit: Here's the Link:

Good information here that might just explain why you have random crashes.

Well, I've been sitting in Sanctuary for like half an hour and it's not going anywhere. NPCs just wandering around, not building anything. They have resources, but maybe I'm still missing something.ScreenShot3.pngзображення_2021-01-02_140853.png

It looks like it hasn't even built ANY of the City Plan, not even the non-Plot objects (the Plan for Sanctuary includes putting street lights all the way along the street, and vanilla non-plot beds in all the houses, so I can tell just from those two shots). That's really odd.

how did you make preston the leader, did you do it like you were assigning him work or did you do it through the manage city option on the desk? I would try using the manage city option at the desk itself. I would do a replace city leader, then choose preston and see if it works? Did you fly around the city ? Did you get the pop ups confirming Preston as a leader and asking if you wanted to tear it all down?
Also click view city details and make sure there's a city plan listed there. What's your load order? I don't know if we asked you that yet.

1. I assigned him through the desk.
2. The flying camera cutscene played, every plot I built during the tutorial with Jake was deleted and every junk object I previously scrapped, even buildings, reverted.
3. City Details: [SS2] Sanctuary Hills Basics, designed by Strong Swanson.
4. About load order - I usually just use Vortex and everything works fine, but here's what MO says:

I swear I remember better settlers causing problems in the past. That's the one that renames all the settlers?
I stopped using FAR but I don't remember why. I "think" it was breaking precombs but really don't remember. Dd productions mods. Man I haven't seen those in awhile. Those haven't been updated since 2016. Not saying they're the problem but perk reset mods have never worked well for me.
I'm kinda out of ideas. Anyone else?

Better settlers is a great mod that I use every play through. Perfectly safe to use with SS2, doesn’t do any renaming. You might be thinking of Immersive Settlers which is a mess and always causes problems.

My only suggestion would be to try installing baka scrap heap. There are a couple of script heavy mods plus the lighting and texture pack mods. Maybe it’s just getting bogged down.

OK, Scrap Heap didn't change anything. For the experiment, I tried to apply a city plan at Finch farm, and Finches didn't build anything either. By the way, I used an Option Wizard in the city manager terminal and set it to "Automated". Is it OK to do?
