Chapter 3 bugs, Resurgence vertibird impossible to kill (mod conflict?), crashes, quests stuck, problems with voices...

Howdee pardners. :dogmeat:

tldr Chapter 3 good, bugs bad, me angry

I was tremendously excited that Chapter 3 released all of a sudden. Now after a few quests (I only just recruited Salvador), I'm torn between this excitement and a sh1t ton of frustration (don't get me wrong, this still all looks super cool and I'm an immense fan of y'all's work (is this even a word? whatever)), making me spend too many stressful hours trying over and over to get through the questline, which I love, but bugs and CTDs are making me crazy.
After I had to end Chapter 2 with the skip quest cheat tool (idk why, nothing happened when meeting the team in the comm room), I had to go back and forth with saves to make things work correctly in Chapter 3, then I had to use console commands an awful lot.

First, I'm not sure if that's intended but Flickering Lights took hours to trigger after I completed Chapter 2, and when Aiden eventually called through HQ radio, he made me exit workshop mode as I was building a settlement, then after the call ended he kept calling me again every other minute with the exact same dialogue like a spam bot or a stubborn salesman.
Arriving in HQ, going to check the new area, there was a dialogue where my female Sole Survivor had some line using the male Sole Survivor voice. I haven't kept track of that particular bit (sorry) because I don't always pay attention when it happens once in a while, and I'm pretty sure that happens in the base game too sometimes.
More annoyingly, all the holotapes I found down there had no voice, no sound came out with the subtitles - which disappeared a bit fast, it was hard to read some of them.
On the matter of voice, I got stuck and had to reload a save when speaking to Aiden after he got attacked. I tried to talk to him after his dialogue ended, and it just forced me into a blank dialogue mode I couldn't escape.
Down the line, talking through the radio with the trapped engineer (btw that gameplay was quite impressive) was rather hard since we have to move to get to the buttons then back to the radio on the desk - I'm not talking about the difficulty of the puzzle itself. Our character doesn't react to the dialogue automatically like we do in other scenes in some quests, I had to move my mouse precisely on the spot where I could enter dialogue mode with the radio on the desk.
I also saw the spooky albino ghoul teleporting I think when I finally faced it, it seemed to have instantly moved from one end of the room to another. It was weird.

Next quest, Resurgence, this was intense in a lot of different ways.
On my save I had already finished Fallout 4's main quest, and everything went fine (except maybe a voice line that's gender-swapped again in the meeting room) up to the point where we have to build an outpost. Then came trouble.
After my team built an outpost out of Warwick Homestead and I enjoyed the tour, I got stuck with Lupe not going to the comm plot. I spent too much time trying a lot of different ways to get her to that plot, moving the plot, creating other paths, teleporting her with console commands, fast travelling away and back... Only to find a fix on another thread, because Lupe had to go specifically to that plot but LVL1 and it spawned upgraded to LVL3. A bit weird, but at least I discovered Aiden kept following me, which was funny, I could have kept him as a "temporary" companion.
Then bigger trouble came with the Gunners. :nuke:
At some point I had the game lag, freeze then crash when a squad attacked, but all the times I had this kind of thing happening near the outpost I think that's because of the load from the settlement as this happens a lot, at least lags, in any settlement with a lot of stuff built. I loaded a save just before, when interacting with the radio, then got another CTD before I could go away from the settlement and to the spot where the attackers spawned lol.
After killing that squad I approached their landed vertibird and noticed I could hit "board", and got stuck there, no way to come out of it. Again I tried fast travelling away and back but I couldn't fast travel, so I used console commands to go away and back; first it teleported me with the vertibird somehow, then it worked; but when I had to board the vertibird the interaction was gone with no way to make it come back even when I tried disabling and re-enabling the vertibird or the recycleactor command off the top of my head.
So, loading an earlier save, crashing again, loading that save without too much load on my computer so I don't crash, going back to that point without messing around, we embarked for an epic journey!.. If only our vertibird's supposed missiles worked, if only its movements were a bit better (I like using Flyable Personal Vertibird but I guess it'd be too hard to do something similar here or to make it possible for FPV users to use it instead?), if only the darn gunner vertibird wasn't immortal... Spending something like half an hour trying to shoot it down made the scene less and less epic. :(
Now I'm guessing maybe that's on me? I'm also using Better Vertibird, essentially so I can use them with FPV, but it might have rendered that gunner vertibird also very overpowered. Encountering that when I'm walking, that's an interesting challenge! But during that air battle, not the slightest. I spent maybe half an hour trying to keep my vertibird stable (making my head spin) and trying to land any shot on that gunner vertibird, it seemed endless; at some point I saw flames coming out of an engine and thought that was it, it would finally crash, but nope, and it even regenerated?!? I checked using the console, and yes it did! So I thought, whatever, let's use the console to end its/my suffering (I could also uninstall my vertibird mods, but I thought this would break my save to uninstall those right now), so I went and killed it straight ahead and: CTD. I tried again, loading a save when I'm airborne already, and: CTD when the screen becomes white. I tried again but indirectly, using console commands to make it weaker then shooting it down, but it didn't work and even with less health points it was just next to impossible to shoot it down. I tried teleporting to GNN before boarding the vertibird; wrong course of action, don't do that lol (you'd just see gunners on land). I had no other idea than to try again to kill that flying boss, and idk how (because I mostly did the same thing over and over, and it kept crashing until it didn't) but I eventually killed it, using a sh1t ton of console commands and, I guess, a lot of luck to land enough shots to kill it while Lupe kept telling me her 2 or 3 voicelines about how she was trying to pilot (sorry Lupe, I got angry and might have said "shut up" more than once). Then we almost died, but that's how the quest is supposed to go. The long wait loading the next scene made me terribly scared that my game was gonna crash again but fortunately it went well.

I have spent too many hours on this, it was so freaking frustrating. And yet, y'all did a magnificent work at giving me wild emotions, and almost goosebumps for Jake (there's nothing stopping me from romancing him, not even myself). It kinda made it worthwhile. But this is all so very frustrating. But it's so cool. But frustrating. But...

Oh, and here come more missing voices. About all of the staff down there after that vertibird scene are mute, except for exactly one scientist who has 2 lines I think, all the others move and have subtitles but no voice. Also, they're walking through some items. And some items overlap here and there, but it seems to happen a lot in HQ - that's maybe a problem in itself, but not really new here. Also people who are supposed to be in bed recovering sometimes are not in the right pose and sometimes get up and back in bed; people who are supposed to be standing sometimes go to bed then back up, and strangely I saw a NPC "going to bed" on nothing but air.

Anyway, after that I didn't see any other bug I think. I didn't even really complete the quest after Resurgence yet, because it was very late (because I'm passionate enough to keep playing through those bugs and everything and maybe I have attention problems), and I wanted to stop playing not because of a CTD this time but because I wanted to go to bed with less frustration lol (yet I spent about an hour and a half writing this).
"Me and This Army" was awesome, everything was perfect, there, that's something I can think about when I go to bed. Incredible mod. SS2 good, bugs bad.

I'm right there with you. I've managed to progress a bit (comploeted Gunner's daughter, holy sh1t!). But I've hit another problem. The next quest in the chain should be triggering (I think), but it's not, as Aiden has contacted me, but I get no quest marker. But at least I was able to capture a gunner outpost without it failing because the gunners couldn't be killed for some reason.

Now I'm stuck during A Faction Is Born... :poo:
I almost got stuck trying to climb a ladder in front of HQ before going to the meeting, I had to reload a save again (and it crashed because now I cannot load a save without exiting the game first apparently), or I was either stuck in front of a wall on top and got injured falling, or I was locked in noclip mode without having used the console, and couldn't exit it when I tried triggering tcl on and off.
But more importantly the meeting in HQ just stopped working. First Lupe keeps getting up of her chair and stands in the doorway, but whatever suits her I guess, though I'd like to talk to her face not her back. Then the dialogue got stuck when Jake says he programmed a terminal, then the dialogue just stops there and nothing happens. So I tried again from a quicksave just before chosing a name (and didn't crash, yay) and now the dialogue is stuck when I'm asked to chose a name; just after I pick one, noone else speaks, the dialogue is stuck even earlier.
Then I tried doing it all over again, and crashed again when reloading an earlier save, so I stopped trying because all this took me another half hour.
Update: I went back and tried again because I like torturing myself, now for some reason doing a quicksave just before Jake talks about the terminal and quickloading when I'm stuck did get me through it, he suddenly got up and the scene went on.

I spent all day going back and forth with Art Of War, trying every console command and trick I could find in order to finish it. I kept getting stuck. All day. I'm too tired to elaborate atm but I'll (try to) list all the bugs I found (there's a ton). It was rewarding however when it was finally over (I enjoyed playing a bit with outposts and stuff afterwards), but again so frustrating.

:aye: hey slick/darlin'!
Maybe creating yet another thread for bug reports is too much? idk anyway here are some more bug reports while I'm not too lazy. This time with ASAMcolor pictures!
  • Some HQ hangar rooms are not listed in the right place when looking at the plan and several of them are wrongly linked to another room.
20230806132844_1.jpg20230806132831_1.jpg
That room is normally a Common Area (and it appears as the right room), but other rooms are also linked to this area in the plan and not where they actually are, here namely the Hangar Embassy and Military Department Head Office.
  • There's a room layout in HQ called "Remove me" but I think this is being appropriately removed.
  • Some room layout doesn't load correctly even after I hit refresh, and items that spawn overlap - I saw this in the little room in the corner of the hangar's diner, which is to be used as storage or toilets, however I haven't kept notes of what exactly this little area is called and what that layout is called either. I had a similar issue elsewhere but it went away when I hit refresh, this time it doesn't for this place here, I still have floating and overlapping items.

  • I keep getting an option to build a "large women's restroom" (in facilities > construction > engineering jobs) which I cannot actually build, I keep getting a window that says "no rooms found for this project". I already had this happen without Chapter 3 installed, I saw it near the end of my last playthrough with Chapter 2, I hoped I could get a room in Hangar for this layout to get rid of this build option but nope, still there with "no rooms found".
20230806133216_1.jpg
  • Related to that same room layout but not the same bug; there's a couple rooms next to the one where we can build the Hangar Embassy where we can build bedrooms, restrooms (and we can build a large women's restroom here apparently, but again not the same bug as before, I think, unless they're really related), a laundry room, and/or the military head private quarters; I keep having the options to build stuff here even after I built something already, and the layout I chose last replaces what was built, so I just try to remember that in order not to replace those. I also keep having the option to upgrade the military head private quarters (engineering > upgrades > living quarters, "military department quarters improvement") even when I haven't built it (I don't think I have an appropriate save before to test it so I haven't checked if this option even appeared before I built it for the first time, anyway I keep having this option even if I replaced that room with another, i.e. a laundry room).
Also I just realized with the following screenshots that my resources are totally messed up, I don't produce any rare material but I have 1360 rare materials there? Don't mind the other labels they're weird anyway because I cheat through HQ etc, I just like building in sandbox-like mode and I enjoy SS2's quests.

  • Some painting in the Embassy waiting area with decorations has a weird hitbox (idk if that's the right word, anyway), I could read the other paintings' label/caption/tombstone (I just discovered this name and I think it's funny) but not the one that looks like nuke mushrooms (""War Never Changes" by a ghoul"), except when I went into the wall using tcl. It's there, but a few centimeter off.

  • During Internal Affairs, there's a conversation with Theresa, Lupe and Salvador that is meant to trigger after some project in HQ, but they're already in the area before that and we can start dialogue, though when I tried it was cut at some point because Salvador kept going away and when he's too far it's like when the player walks away and leaves dialogue. I think I didn't entirely notice what was happening, because as I said they appeared before projects were complete, and the sentence on which this ended made some sense; then I came back to them, after projets were complete, when the quest marker made me realize all that, and Salvador was away so the dialogue couldn't work! (btw I had similar issues with this character several times!) I finally made it work by aiming in a spot where my character could apparently have all three of them in dialogue mode, even if Salvador was far away, because he was still in an appropriate angle to look at him and talk even from afar smh, however the dialogue camera in that entire part looked weird with characters mostly looking the wrong way and sometimes I was just staring at walls. But Salvador sounds neuroatypical so I love him.

Aaaand I just used too many screenshots so I'll have to end this here for the moment plus I'm late for something.

I'm now also stuck on the "talk to Theresa in the hangar" part in Internal Affairs. I used moveto to get Theresa in there (she was chilling in my quarters on the main floor), that did next to nothing (the marker moved to her though) so I did the same to Salvador. Wiki says Lupe needs to be there too so I guess I'll do the same with her until they're all in one place? Unless one of the newer hotfixes hotfixed it.

Reading this I just laughed a bit at myself for some of the frustration I had with bugs that were gone after some hotfix; I just didn't check for updates for like a week and there are updates almost everyday, which is more than impressive!
Yep, I'm having a pretty much flawless experience, aside from the binoculars frustration, but that just got fixed too. Big round of applause for the SS Team, for working on this seemingly day and night.

Update - yeah, that fixed it. Should probably move Salvador before the others cause the cutscene started with him all the way downstairs and that was messy.

Oh, I had more things to list down now that I have time. Speaking of binoculars frustration, I had a bit too, but not really with binoculars, with assaults really.
So!

Concerning HQ again:
  • I was able to get access to pseudo-resources HQ uses with the Nuka-Mixer Station in the diner area, when using the transfer option like on almost any crafting station. I didn't take anything in order not to break stuff, I wondered what would happen, I guess it's bad. I did try to add something in there to have actual resources to use for crafting here, it didn't break anything so that's cool.
20230806134520_1.jpg
20230806134548_1.jpg
  • On the matter of having access to pseudo-resources, I often have "items" in my inventory that comes from lists to pick options from, like when choosing a build option for a plot, or - that's when I first noticed it - people to assign in HQ. Most often those come from HQ, less from plots in settlements but it happens too. Also I get plots appearing in my Pip-Boy's radio tab, strangely; but just their plot type, like "Municipal Plot", or "Commercial Plot"; I tried listening to those "radios", it doesn't play any sound quite obviously. Those disappear by themselves from my radio, but the stuff that gets in my inventory never goes away by itself; I feared I would break something again if I transferred it somewhere, but at the same time it started to bloat my Misc inventory tab, so I tried dropping some, and they just disappear, with no texture or whatever, I even tried to click them in console mode and found nothing, they just go back to oblivion I guess and nothing seems to break from this, but it's strange.
  • I think that's about it concerning HQ. I still have a couple issues here and there in HQ that I previously reported but some of them are gone; oddly enough I had my flags outside HQ fixing themselves but like one at a time, they used to not have the texture I chose and/or spawned twice and overlapped, and like one by one they were replaced over a few travels to HQ, that's weird and funny at the same time. There's also a little piece of barricade on the roof of HQ, for which I don't have a screenshot, that appeared off / floating in the air; after I upgraded them it was fixed. I'm not sure what that was exactly but I guess some stuff outside HQ just have more trouble loading? Just like my flags got the right texture but after some time?
I also wanted to report some bugs that made me desperate to find a solution, some of them have been addressed already so that's a huge relief, however maybe some of these still need to get some attention:
  • Salvador seems to break most of the time, either he's stuck in one place or always moves, making some dialogue look weird at best, sometimes it means his dialogue is stuck, and/or quests are stuck. This happened in HQ as mentionned above, but during other quests too with varying intensity; hopefully I found ways to go forwards using a ton of console commands, and loading earlier saves a lot too; I spent hours and hours on this and wanting to hit him out of spite (and I did, with a plasma rifle, then loaded another save again).
  • There is a stage of the quest "Art of War" when we have to talk to Salvador in the settlement we chose as an Outpost; his dialogue never triggered for me (idk what he had to say, I hope I didn't miss too much stuff), I tried loading an earlier save but it didn't work, and I had to use console commands to find that quest stage and skip it. Unfortunately I didn't keep track of what stage that was exactly. Also I thought maybe it has something to do with our choice and mine was a bad choice idk.
  • Even when I used console commands to move Salvador around to fix his dialogue, some quest stages didn't trigger correctly (I tried skipping them with console commands too, but couldn't get it to work) and I had to try again and again until suddenly it worked for some reason (I really have no clue why, I sometimes did the exact same stuff 5 times in a row hoping to maybe make progress if he was offset by one more pixel, and 4 times out of 5 it didn't work and the fifth it did!?), this made "Art of War" feel undending. Either he was stuck in one spot and wouldn't move to an objective, either he was going away. I figured by teleporting to him that he kept going back to the spot where he was stuck in Concord which I chose as an Outpost (it has walls! And I wiped out the kidnappers!), at some point he was near Greenetech Genetics on his way home, getting in the way of raiders instead of getting in the way of gunners, dammit.
  • btw I think I saw this was addressed in a hotfix, but I kept trying to assault Gunners at Egret Tours Marina for an hour or so, going back and forth with saves & loads, before having to abandon and go back to chose the option where Salvador leads the assault instead... It was very very frustrating, took me hours and hours, and I had to vent okay.
20230806141452_1.jpg
Salvador didn't move from that one spot in our Outpost in Concord, even when he was supposed to lead an assault; I had to move him with console commands.
20230807002812_1.jpg
THE OTHER WAY, IDIOT.
20230807003212_1.jpg
When reaching the objective, he never went by himself to that spot where he was supposed to go; I had to move him with console commands again, and deplete all of my patience waiting for him to get in position on the billionth try. Then during the assault he kept going away, again, but now the quest was moving forwards so whatever. I teleported him back when I needed him.
20230807010052_1.jpg
At some point I teleported to him instead in order to know what was going on when he was not coming from Concord; here he is on his way... back to Concord... Also, hi dead raider in a cooking pot, you crossed the wrong people! (Now this sounds like a supermutant did it.)
  • During "Me and This Army", Salvador kept going away from the Coast Guard Pier near the end of that quest, I had to move him using console commands in order for dialogue to work correctly. Other than that it was really perfect, I was completely amazed to discover some exciting new features. Except the scoreboard at the end of any assault which seems to take too long I thought at first but we can end it with our Pip-Boy like cutscenes for city plans building up in settlements.
  • Speaking of those assaults. I never seem to be able to complete any, in any settlement. Territories seem to work fine, settlements/vassals/outposts nope, something always go wrong and I have to use console commands again.
  • First during "Art of War", I had Phyllis Daily attacking me alongside Gunners (she doesn't side against them? wtf) tho I don't care much for her so she got killed, whatever; then there Gunners that were invincible. Some are apparently flagged as essential (even if I couldn't find that in the console, which told me they weren't valid targets for the command isEssential, weird), so they always got back on their feet and in battle, until I manage to put them all down (because my allies are often worthless (especially against assaultrons lasers, poof, you're dust) and pretty much always get killed instantly, but I made another thread about that).
  • Then there's more trouble, when I've secured a settlement, those invincible enemies are back on their feet and weirdly aren't made prisoners, they're settlers, then after a few moments they become hostile again, and as they're flagged essential this can be unending. So I just keep ending any assault with console commands again, to delete them. And I realize I haven't had any prisoner at all yet, tho I attacked maybe three settlements already, and claimed about as much territories.
  • During assaults on settlements, their settlers turn hostile against my troops, and the "quest" asks me to take them down with the remaining occupying Gunners. As some of them are flagged as essential too, or I simply don't want to kill them (especially unique merchants I recruited or robots I crafted), again I had to use some console commands in order to make them disappear or stop being hostile then get them back as settlers once I took back the place.
  • I was about to say Territories on the other hand never caused me trouble yet, but actually they did, a tiny bit. I had the quest Prognosis active when I decided to attack and claim Corvega Assembly Plant as a territory, and some weird stuff happened; Spot did spawn in a cage when I got there, but when the assault"quest" triggered the cage disappeared but Spot was still there and teleported inside a building smh and turned hostile with occupying raiders against my troops and I. Again this was fixed with a couple console commands, but it might cause more trouble to other people.
And here it seems that I'm exceeding maximum characters, oh boy. To be continued!

Here we go again. I should have enough characters to paste the remaining part.

  • I'm currently waiting to assault Vault 95 because as it's implied I should learn I wanna do some more tutorials from the "Preparing for War" holotape - which btw I could get before "Internal Affairs" by crafting it, tho it's empty before. But it's confusing. I didn't get that I had to escape the holotape after I chose an option at first, and might have clicked on some of them multiple times and maybe something went wrong. Quests I get from this holotape sometimes don't complete, I think I had the tutorials about Vassals and at least another one maybe Territories which didn't end when I thought I had finished, and all the objectives in my Pip-Boy were checked. Other quests do come to an end, so I'm doing them one by one and just cancelling the ones that won't work.
  • During the tutorial to capture another Outpost, a window opens when it is taken about Battle Raiding, but it opens right when I'm getting to that scoreboard in fact; so at first I didn't pay attention and thought I was stuck on a black screen, then I realized when the black screen ended that I had closed that window, so I loaded an earlier save again to read the end of that darn tutorial, and it was really hard, it took several tries, but I managed to screenshot it just before my screen faded to black. Anyway, the tutorial window shouldn't trigger exactly then, because it's either impossible to read or people will get stuck thinking like I thought "why the hell am I stuck on a black screen now?" when it's not really that.

20230808133042_1.jpg
I had less than one second to hit F12 lol

I also had some issues with NLTC quests/dialogue, some of which I saw already some other people having, maybe they were addressed already but here are some more:

  • After first encountering Glatton, I boarded his ship and tried to talk to him again; he initiated dialogue (without a voice however this seems to have been hotfixed), but not at all what would be expected, his lines are about something way later in his questline I think, but that dialogue is stuck there and there's just that one sentence then if I don't move away I'm stuck in his dialogue. I had that same interaction happen again a few quests later but still not at all when it should happen, I only talked to him in his office and he initiated that same dialogue, which (didn't) work all the same. Also, his voice lines don't always have matching subtitles, sometimes there's a few more words here and there or they're different.

20230806191043_1.jpg
What are you even talking about? (And why aren't your lips moving? Nor is there any sound? [that seems fixed])
20230806210055_1.jpg
Man I still don't know what you're talking about. Also how did you get a pre-war flag that is not destroyed?
  • During "Corporate Espionage" a quest objective kept asking me to go talk to Allison even if I did already; the objective never checks. Hopefully it didn't matter, the quest moves on and does end when it should.
20230806214050_1.jpg
Other objectives were checked, not that one. Hopefully it didn't matter, the quest on its own did complete.
  • During that same quest, the little argument between Lydia and Allison may fail to trigger, I had to try several times to interact with them and align correctly to have a dialogue working.
  • On several occasions, NPCs in NLTC Outpost talk to eachother even when they're not in the same room, even if they're not on the same floor... This place really needs stairs to let NPCs path or they have to understand better how to use the elevator, or the main lobby floor and the basement should be separate floors like the penthouse or like the floors in HQ, because it can break some dialogue. I had to start over from the beginning twice during some instances of this happening, or I had to use console commands to move NPCs in order for them to face eachother and not get stuck with a broken dialogue.
  • During "Black King, White Knight" (btw, wrong title in the wiki I believe @Cessori tho good work with the rest), I had to try several times for the part in the "Commonwealth Residence" to work. Allison kept vanishing. As this is in University Point and, even if I blew up the Institute already, it's flooding with hostile synths again (stupid radiant quests, we could be settling here again), I opted to come from the shore to better kill them; and there it seems that Allison has trouble pathing, idk what happens, she vanishes. When I tried to come from the other side, the "entry" of University Point where there are signs, she didn't vanish, but still she ran away at some point because I think she cannot walk somewhere? I ended up using console commands again, teleporting her to me, and going into that home, because without her inside there's no dialogue so the quest is stuck.
  • In Norwood Bank (btw fantastic place and questline), in some little hall, there is a wall through which a ghoul crawls, but there should be a hole there. I don't have a screenshot this time, but there's supposed to be a ventilation hatch I think instead of a plain wall.
  • In the same place, a dialogue can happen between NPCs even if they're rooms and floors apart, with the same issues as I could describe earlier.

Now that took some time. I don't remember any other issue I wanted to list at least for now. I hope this can be useful to help chase bugs and fix stuff. :agree:

Damn, that's a lot of issues. And all this is after the hotfixes? Salvador would stop abruptly a lot of times on the way to our "training mission" but aside from that, it was fine. That and binocular aiming, that took forever on 3.0.0c. The assaults from war planner desk all seem to be working as intended, if a little slow to go through the menus at first. Probably a lot slower with all the mods everyone (and me normally) has.
NLTC stuff was fantastic this far. But now in the northwood bank quest, everyone's favourite male character completely disappeared and that seems to be a problem. So I'm here again :) Also I'd be very careful with quest stages and all that. Might break a lot of stuff and not even know it until later.

everyone's favourite male character completely disappeared
For me he was just at the other side of the building; try finding his ID and teleporting him with console commands? That'd be my first thing to try to get through a quest like that, as I had to do this too many times already. I really hope all those NPCs stop wandering off omfg.
And all this is after the hotfixes?
Some of them I didn't see in changelogs so I guess most of the stuff I listed is still there unfortunately. I also just had a couple more bugs...

Weird that it's reversed for me, I only do assaults from the binoculars which work mostly fine (they're sometimes taking annoyingly long to actually pinpoint what I'm aiming at; I tried in downtown Boston and it's... funny, which is surprising, but yeah it does some weird stuff (like it picked USS Constitution but it's not at all where I was), but at least I didn't get game-breaking bugs or anything and I got to assault what I wanted (more or less; I tried to pinpoint Haymarket Mall, and couldn't idk why, eventually I settled for the Boston Bugle Building, anyway I got a good fight, good loot, and an awesome territory, omfg I love these features).
But as I said, the issue is reversed for me, I'm never able to plan assaults from the war planner desk, which was part of why I came back to report a couple more issues; I only get negatives, I have about 5 outposts which are all full with more than 20 soldiers and all of them tell me "-5" or "-7" warriors available, it's super weird.
HQ's war planner desk is even worse... when it works at all, which in my experience is about 1 time in 3, I have to load a save or go away to load another area then the hangar again... and well it says the same thing.
Speaking of HQ, some more stuff broke... :(
Now Muriel and Neil don't have a voice anymore. They used to, some other NPCs who were voiceless gained a voice, but those two have lost theirs...
Maybe I have too much stuff to load in the main area, and too many people in HQ (I have 52 people in there I think - my numbers keep changing, it's annoying); I cannot load any list anymore, they're all broken. When I try to reorganize a department's staff, it gets totally randomly filled with people from every department, and I end up with all of them randomly assigned. When I pick some project that requires to chose who will do it, same, it generates broken lists of people who sometimes aren't even part of the appropriate department, and I get random people on both columns of the menu on the left and right sides of the screen where we pick and move them, and I cannot change much. So entire HQ is broken basically, except if I spend half an hour everytime I wanna load any of those lists loading another save or travelling back and forth to load things right until it goes well, and it works only maybe 1 time in 5...
I also noticed a corner of the refugee camp in hangar that looks weird, maybe it was there already idk; there's a wall that doesn't load one way and is invisible, but going the other way loads a dark wall that blocks the way; I was trapped in a small tent-like shack when I was just wandering the area, it was surprising. Hopefully I could clip back and escape this caustrophobic nightmare. Refreshing that area doesn't change it.
At first I didn't see any wall.

Then I got entombed.

Some clipping later; I looked at this thing from another angle and that wall did load, but not when coming from the opposite way.
20230810234457_1.jpg
Now I also have gone through pretty much all of the "Preparing for War" holotape's tutorial quests, and there's like 5 of them that are broken and either don't even start up or won't ever complete. I'll try at a later time to list which; same for those menus in HQ that behave very wrong. I didn't play much, and I'm tired right now.

Getting that blasted vertibird with nuke to actually spawn again is becoming a difficult task. I already reloaded a save before they arrive 10 times one time it worked and it caused a CTD to occur how on earth are you supposed to complete this dang mission?

idk man; your issue sounds very different to mine tho, it did spawn everytime like it should; but the part about trying to go past a bottleneck over and over for it to randomly work and it might crash, that I had several times with several quests... Resurgence's vertibird crashing (lol) created a CTD most of the time until it didn't for whatever reason, after I finally found a way to make it die. I also had Art of War stuck on several occasions as described, and I don't even know why and how it finally worked when it did either (that time I didn't get any CTD for that quest I think, but still it was a long process that made me feel like losing my mind). And it's both not entirely isolated issues but also stuff that some people experience and others don't apparently, making it harder to rule out what is causing said issues, hence I guess it will take time for SS2 team to troubleshoot all of those bugs and work out the kinks to make Chapter 3 more stable. Make sure to keep an eye on updates! (I didn't and felt dumb because some bugs I had were hotfixed.) There are updates almost everyday fixing more and more stuff, it's colossal work. You might need patience anyway, but I feel like it's worth it, I'm really loving the new features I'm finally discovering. I wasn't around when SS2 Chapter 1 then Chapter 2 were in their earliest days (I think I was still playing with SS1!) but I guess it was the same at first, lots of troubleshooting until the mod gets better and better. Remember again that this is made by dozens of benevolent people who are doing some work that I think can be compared to an actual game studio but without much money! It's impressive to say the least.
In last resort if you cannot make it work at all and it's not fixed in the coming weeks and you don't want to wait too long, there's the cheat tool to skip SS2 quests, but I cannot advise to use it, I have no idea how it will react to that particular series of events with Resurgence and directly after that (and I would feel bad for you a little if you missed some story and all, it really is worth the trouble I thought).

Haha yeah it was driving me nuts took me several hours to finally get it to work im now at choosing a faction name which aint easy

I ended up sticking with The Union since its the closest I could think of that is like The Planetary Union from The Orville and the United Federation of Planets in Star Trek. Im a big sci fi nerd that loves the idea of a union between worlds where its mostly peaceful and no poverty.

For me he was just at the other side of the building; try finding his ID and teleporting him with console commands? That'd be my first thing to try to get through a quest like that, as I had to do this too many times already. I really hope all those NPCs stop wandering off omfg.

Yeah I found his ID and managed to get him to stay in one place for 2 minutes, as I posted in the other thread. Quest complete :) I'm on the holotape quests as well. Those are not mandatory but I think they do a good job of familliarising with new mechanics. Assuming everything works, anyway, but I haven't had that many problems with the mechanical side of it. Muriel and Neil didn't have any idle lines either for me but I think that's been restored since? The creepy corner is creepy. I think all that goes away as you build up the hangar but idk, the place is massive.
I've got like 50 of my people injured (don't ask lmao) so yeah I had minus 15 soldiers for some time too. Dunno about now but I treated a few and sent some of the guards back to warriors. You can use the gavel to summon everyone that's tied to the outpost, if everything is automatic many of them will be assigned as guards to secure the new locations, still count as settlers for it but not as warriors you can deploy anymore. Those who got an injury also can't be sent to assault (unless you change that, there's a holotape option for it) until treated. And I'm constantly running out of machine and rare parts but that's what I get for rushing settlement building. And all those outposts without much industry going. I just want to skip to the good part lol.
I have like 33 people in HQ, seems to be working fine. If you're having issues with assignment, don't pull too many out of different departments at once to reassign them, engine chokes on that. I used msalaba's settler zapper a lot too to give them 8's and 9's in stats and not need as many. Even though I'm a tgm abuser so most of it was cleaned with 2 people in facillities anyway.
I picked "Rangers" (hail NCR) but "the Union" or "the Coalition" sounds alright too. "The Syndicate" would be good but sounds too criminal for what we're doing. No "Fancypants" on the list though, people are gonna riot.

Bloatflies are ew. Kinda wish there were more options, like "the Empire", "Authority", "Leaders", "Madlads", "Liberators"... "Gulpers" or "Hole survivors" if you want more joke options.

I figure Bloatflies is in there because of that one Dynamic Soundscape line recorded by like five different VAs of "my daughter was killed by a f-ing bloatfly". Clearly they are a very deadly animal.
