Chapter 2 FAQ

You forgot to mention that NMM stands for Nexus Mod Manager... you won't believe how many folks here on Steam just don't know what wich short stand for.

@LordTrog
Regarding reinstall... on Steam just removing and re downloading the Games files won't cost anything.
As long as the Game is in your Library you can remove and install it as much as you like... if you are a true masochist you can do it even multiple times a Day.
Only problematic thing is when you have a low Bandwith.
Thank uou, and NMM I didn't know automatically.

So where is a guide to how to install mods not showing up on the in game mod lists and do we have a running list of all SS2 mods, ot all mods compatible, just the SS2 mods? @killgath not sure how to tag him.

Updated to chapter 2 but no new quest has started. Originally installed it with MO2, tried everything like manual install and progressing with cheats in the holotape, the holotape choose quest screen doesnt come up for me. Nothing has worked.

Updated SS2 to version 'm'
"SS2 - Main" (912.381k:cool: and the other files are all installed via NMM and in the data folder
Chapter 1 completed fine on this save... Building, NormalF4, All runs fine... but no sight of chapter2

Checked every corner I know but no Chapter2 quest pops up... SaveGameTimes are fine again

Hmm, out of ideas...

Chapter 2 is a separate download.

omg, thank you very much!
I feel quite stupid now!
Don't, it's a common mistake.

Although it's not, strictly speaking, necessary to start a new game, you may want to anyway. Chapter 2 content actually starts before finishing chapter 1. All in all, it's a better experience to play chapter 1 with 2 installed.

Thank you again!
All is running fine now. Starting Quest fired up on point.
Cool job all! This is awesome!

Well carping fishfood... the things you learn in random posts.

I'm still a bit nervous about that, as Ch2 caused CTDs at the load screen when I installed it. Buuut... I found that my new game is still acting up still with no border limits, and I uninstalled Ch2 in the previous playthrough, so maybe it's time for that delete and reinstall... sigh. Three restarts within a month? Meh!

Do you have Automatron installed? SS2 requires it and will cause a CTD without it.

Do more people have issues with ROTC SS2 cityplans. I had one ( did not pay attention) in Coastal Cottage and after a while I cam to visit it, lot of the plots looked nice though full with rubbish from older buildings, like it did not clear up de debris from stage 1 or 2 . I also got a CTD there from it. and when I returned very carefully walking I noticed a lot of stuttering.

It also looked if the sound suddenly got disabled so that was odd. I manage to remove the city plan though still a lot of debris stayed there , you can walk through it though any idea how to get rid of it as it is now a useless settlement . All other settlements go great ( as long as I do not use RoTC city plans)

you are, indeed, not the only one with problems occuring on ROTC Cityplans...

mostly Plots duplicating on each other... parts of plans showing up were they don't belong (like the Vault 88 Doorway) etc.

i assume this is due to script lag but i have no clue really.

though... there are some really nice plans in the package... i only use 2 of them in my current game... Starlight and Nordhagen.

regarding your leftovers from deleted plots and such.. the console is your friend.. verify that you've selected the right item and use disable on it... if it goes away do a markfordelete.
if it was the wrong item enable it again.

most important... save before doing it.

Q. Do I need to update SS2?
A. Yes, be sure to update SS2 and Workshop Framework in addition to installing the Chapter2 mod.

Q. Can I continue from an existing save?
A. Yes! Any save that has already seen SS2 or even completed the story of Chapter 1 should work with Chapter 2.

Q. How will Chapter 2 start?
A. If you are playing from a save that already finished Chapter 1, you should receive a quest objective telling you to return to the Hardware Store within a couple minutes of booting up your save with Chapter 2 installed. (If this doesn't happen, it may be that your update to SS2 didn't take, and you may need to manually overwrite the files by downloading and extracting them to Fallout 4\Data - then roll back to the last save before you installed Chapter 2)

If you are on a new save, or have not completed Chapter 1, Chapter 2's story will kick in seamlessly at the end of the Chapter 1 content - there will no longer be a pop-up telling you Chapter 1 is complete, and instead the story will continue uninterrupted.

Q. My save files take way longer since I updated to SS2 2.0.0, what's the deal??
A. We are actively researching what might be causing this and will patch it immediately once we have confirmed the issue and created a solution.

Feel free to respond to this post if you have more questions about Chapter 2 and I'll try and keep this updated over the coming days!
I am having problems with a lot of crashing when I try to get to Goodneighbor from Diamond City, starting the HQ quest and the Nightingales around the hospital seems to have started when the new Hotfix came out for the long saves. I am working at trying to find the culprit but have not found it yet. I never had any crashing from Diamond City to Goodneighbor before and this bothers me. It started after my Nvidia driver update and the Hotfix for long saves. Please don't tell me to use Buffout 4 I tried and for me It is confusing. I have had some hurtful comments on this when I have asked for help with it. HQ has always been temperamental and that is understandable this mod is new and not all bugs worked out.

Strange, my game is more stable than ever now with M.
Do you have the garbage collection F4SE mod installed?
