Anyone notice that all the lamp posts (especially at RR and Starlight) aren't grey/silver anymore and are rusted out?

lamppost.jpg

(Both Codsworth and the 10MM pistols look different/more rusty than I remember, too.)

It's no big deal I suppose, but why would they mess with light posts years after the game was released?

Or is this just a lucky bit of belated attention to Immursion for us Xboxers?

edit: weird. just fired up my vanilla/unmodded game. This same lamp post looks like I remembered:

Here's a curious bit:

This the lamp post at RR near the road to Concord in a vanilla save:

Here it is after loading in with only Workshop Framework enabled:

IMG_2595.jpg

I got this same result with
  1. just SS enabled
  2. just UFO4P enabled
  3. just SKK's Workshop Ownership Utilities enabled
  4. just Apple Trees enabled
  5. just Alert Carry enabled
Why would any of these mods change the lamp posts??? Why do they all?

At first, I figured that it was all mods (prone to being a chicken little)

But with just SMM enabled everything was normal:

IMG_2597.jpg

and this result was the same with
  1. just Place Anywhere enabled
  2. just HUD enabled
  3. just Sorted Keys By Crimsomrider enabled
  4. just Puma's Power Lines enabled
  5. just CROSS_Wasteland_Ronin by Niero enabled
Why wouldn't these mods change the lamp posts?

@RayBo @Irealys will you kindly check your lamp posts? I'm interested to know if this is a thing and if it is a thing is it a thing thing or just an Xbox thing.

For Dexter, it is a negative hypostasis. :good Which is what Science does at 0301 in the morning. :declare

Well hell. That's just my luck. Thinks for taking a looksy. I kinda hope it doesn't happen for @Irealys . Then at least I can just chalk it up to me having a bad day.

I can't talk to the others but Sim Settlements has light poles?

That might change the vanilla textures?

Problems with the speed of loading textures.
More precisely, the delayed application of the painted metal effect.

The lamp is actually rusty

More precisely, the delayed application of the painted metal effect.

So the lamp is rusty in fact and is/should be painted with the metal effect. There, theoretically, might could be some without the painted metal effect or painted an entirely different color, again, theoretically.

But the works can get clogged and whatever effect should be applied doesn't get applied so the lamp post appears rusty: in its undressed state, so to speak.

I'm down with that, if I've got it correct.

But damn it is difficult for me to get my head around the fact that all of the sudden having just one mod enabled (and not any particular one but any number of different ones) can slow down the loading of textures. It's not that I don't believe one mod can make such a difference (i do), it's the all of the sudden part.

@wim95 Does your post diagnose the symptom or the disease? And, regardless, do you have any tips on the treatment for a poor Xboxer?

Loss of performance = decrease in quality

This is how the game engine works. Nothing can be done here.

For PC: mining money, buy SSD, buy GPU
For xBox: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Use the lamp as a heavy mods detector ;)

Yet, again, coming at me with what seems like sound logic. but now i have to accept that something like Alert Carry is a "heavy mod" that pushes my xbox beyond what it's capable of performance wise.

This is, of course, either a hard or bitter pill to swallow.

While this box could run the 100 meters two weeks ago, perhaps it has sprained an ankle since.

I guess I'll have to wait until another Xboxer reports in.

If they get similar results, i'll have the unhappy satisfaction of assuming something about the update has had an adverse effect on just us poor slobs. (and to clear, rusty lamp posts don't really bother me. But other things seem off. The lamp posts are just the one thing I found that I could take a picture of.)

If their results are the same as @RayBo 's, I'll at least know the problem is my own.

Is there a HDD defragmentation utility on xbox?
Archives can be fragmented on the HDD after the update. This can reduce performance.

Today, I deleted and reinstalled FO4 and all the DLC to my Xbox hard drive while I was out at Thanksgiving dinner.

While at dinner today I also noticed that SKK had posted, within the last day or so, an updated version of Workshop Ownership Utilities. This updated version now requires the new updated version of FO4.

So I just downloaded and enabled it (this is the only mod in my LO). My lamp post is now painted silver/metallic as expected : unlike the previous test above where with the old version of this mod coupled with the new version of the game, it was rusted.

So either reinstalling the game has corrected this little problem or the mod being updated to take into account the new update of the game itself did the trick.

So I decided to re-run the test with just WSFW installed and enabled. And holy nine titted molerats! No more rusty lamp post!

No more rusty lamp post.

Something went sideways in the game update process???!!!!

For Science! is hard and makes you feel stupid sometimes.

I'll run the test again with the game moved back to the SSD drive just to make sure something there hasn't been jerking my works.

@RayBo and @wim95 Thanks for the therapy and sorry to bother. Check is in the mail!

Sorry, forgot to update. I had 8 exams in 6 days.

Not that it matters anymore but I didn’t see the issue. My lampposts were the same with and without mods.
