[ch3] Outside Assistance stuck

I got up to this point again on this new save, and this quest did actually activate this time - although I had to cancel out of the first time the person called me (it got 'stuck' at their first line) and then ring them back to get the conversation to go through.

However. I went to the location given and found the treasure, but the quest didn't update to acknowledge I had. I scoured literally every inch of that place seeing if there was an additional item I'd missed picking up, but nope.

... I wonder if this is the same issue meaning I can't complete Gremlin's "Laser Love" too, actually, since it's the exact same behaviour - quest not acknowledging that I picked up a weapon. I can't see how anything in my load order would even be touching that? The only reasonable candidates for interference are Munitions and ECO, and if that were the case surely someone else would've had the same problem by now... and if it is a mod conflict, it's now officially into "stops you completing the main questline" territory.
I was expecting a Neeher trademark "first time picking up the weapon" first person animation too, and didn't get one - is that meant to be the case? Also, on first picking it up, my character is holding it as though it's a Power Fist and not a gun - and trying to modify it makes the mesh disappear. Logging out then back in before doing anything with it seems to resolve this.

(Side note: the "take 3 territories" objective stage of "State of War" still hasn't updated in the time it took me to head to that location from Fort Strong ON FOOT and do this messing around plus listening to the three voiced holotapes I found in the place - although the log out and log back in I just did to try testing something did make it update)

F it, I've got nothing else to do today except for finishing off this 'essay' I was working on, Ima dig into this.
I can't think of any, can you provide an example of a base game quest that has an objective to pick up a specific weapon off the ground? The best point of comparison I can come up with is investigating Kellogg's house, and that's not a weapon it has you pick up.
I was about to say Shen Drowne Sword. But then realised u get that from a grave container. Then I was gonna say Reba II. But realised that is optional, and does not progress any quests. All the rest some npc gives u directly, or u buy it... Kremvhs Tooth is also just a treasure.. Not a quest trigger. Even "Deliverer" is being picked up by an NPC to be given to u. Bethesda did go the long mile for not having u pick up weapons from the ground. Unlike Skyrim... I may be wrong, but now I can't remember any weapons u pick up directly from the ground, that progress quests in some way. It is always in a container. Interresting..

However mods do that a lot. The most recent I can remember is CSEP Brotherhood of Steel Chapter 2. Which has u pick up an destroyed laser rifle for a guy, from the ground.
 
I forgot I have several Creation Club things installed which include quest stages to pick up weapons off the ground.

Having compared in the Creation Kit, where I swear every quest including the two SS2 quests in question does things slightly differently, I can see no reason why these two wouldn't be working for only some of us. I sprinted around and checked, and the CClub ones I have that do it still work fine - as long as a nearby NPC in Combat mode didn't pick up the weapon themselves, in which case the quests do break.
I just don't know enough about how the CK does things to follow the processes all the way through, but to my non-expert eye I can't see any issue there.
XEdit spits out an absolute crapload of "SCEN out of order" type messages when loading the chapter 2 and 3 files, but those appear unrelated to either of these quests, and I've done the ones its complaining about without issue so Ima ignore them, just writing it down while I'm here

My only other thought is it may be something else that's being applied to THE PLAYER CHARACTER that's breaking it, but that'd surely be causing bigger problems than this.

I am just hoping Kinggath will add a tiny little safety trigger on this thing, so it ends the quest. But in case not, I hope someone at SS2 team will tell me if I am gonna wreck this mod out of existence by doing: SetStage SS2C3_MA01 1000.

As always you use console commands at your own peril, but I did that exact thing myself, and was still able to finish Chapter 3, so I figure at best maybe a few lines of dialog got missed or something.
 
Version 3.0.0M claimed to have fixed this.
I do now get a "legendary loot screen" for picking up the Stheno, but that appears to be the only thing that's changed. Still not progressing the quest to pick it up, even having rolled back to before receiving the quest at all to make sure it had up to date objectives. Tried slowly looting each item in that crate one by one, sat there and listened through the three audiologs in the little bunker, looted literally everything in there it'll let me pick up, still nothing. Character still holds the thing like he's using it as a club instead of a rifle, too.
If there's something else you're meant to do, clearly I'm missing it.

I went back to Wildwood cemetary, but it's not there. I thought maybe I'd sold it, but all the usual places I sell stuff (Carla, Diamond City, Goodneighbour, etc.) don't have it. So, maybe I dropped into a B.O.G. auto sell crate. Does anyone know the item I.D. to get it back, or will I have to back about 23 quests and restart before I first got the gun in Wildwood! [Groan!] Please, can anyone help?
