[ch3] Outside Assistance stuck

I got up to this point again on this new save, and this quest did actually activate this time - although I had to cancel out of the first time the person called me (it got 'stuck' at their first line) and then ring them back to get the conversation to go through.

However. I went to the location given and found the treasure, but the quest didn't update to acknowledge I had. I scoured literally every inch of that place seeing if there was an additional item I'd missed picking up, but nope.

... I wonder if this is the same issue meaning I can't complete Gremlin's "Laser Love" too, actually, since it's the exact same behaviour - quest not acknowledging that I picked up a weapon. I can't see how anything in my load order would even be touching that? The only reasonable candidates for interference are Munitions and ECO, and if that were the case surely someone else would've had the same problem by now... and if it is a mod conflict, it's now officially into "stops you completing the main questline" territory.
I was expecting a Neeher trademark "first time picking up the weapon" first person animation too, and didn't get one - is that meant to be the case? Also, on first picking it up, my character is holding it as though it's a Power Fist and not a gun - and trying to modify it makes the mesh disappear. Logging out then back in before doing anything with it seems to resolve this.

(Side note: the "take 3 territories" objective stage of "State of War" still hasn't updated in the time it took me to head to that location from Fort Strong ON FOOT and do this messing around plus listening to the three voiced holotapes I found in the place - although the log out and log back in I just did to try testing something did make it update)

Is it Neeher's work? I should go replay it if that's the case, I already forgot if it was different (it might be). He does have a way with those pickup animations.
Weird that Laser Love is stuck too. I should do that and see.

Can confirm. Wouldn't even go through the first few times I called him myself.

I notice there wasn't even a "legendary loot screen" for the Stheno, when it feels like there should be.

I'm pretty sure you're meant to not "take all" and instead start picking items from the box, it updated for me after that. Common issue with a bunch of quests like this, not sure if limited to SS2 or not. But I think I had it with Handsy or Katherine Drake or Archibald, one of them.
(also if you're avoiding showing spoilers.. that quest objective kinda is one)

Just tried that with a solid second of time between taking each item just to give it time to keep up, and still didn't do it. I think it must be the weapon that's the issue, just like with Gremlin's quest. (which a keen eye will spot is still in my active quest log in that video)
 
I'll try and replay it when I get a chance, though someone will probably beat me to it. I'm sure the team hates by now how you fix something and something 3 hours earlier breaks for no reason.
 
It could well be something at my end, although I'm not sure what exactly. Taking multiple real world days to make maybe 10 minutes of progress in the questline only to get stuck again immediately is not exactly filling me with the desire to start over again though.
 
My best guess is that it's either Equipment Crafting Overhaul (specifically the changes to the 'naming rules' - look at my Ripper, that name autogenerated - or the 'new attachment points that adds) or maybe its child mod Legendary Effect Overhaul that makes the Legendary slot on weapons/armor accessible to crafting just like Barrel and Scope and such. It would require literally starting over from New Game to confirm that though.
I know I'm not the only one on these forums that runs those, though, so that's why I'm not sure.
 
I've replayed this multiple times and never had an issue - that's not to negate your experience, but I just cannot replicate it. There is no animation when picking it up though, so that part is normal at least.

With how many people were/are stuck on State of War, or not doing this quest straight away, you could be the first one with them to post about it? I think msalaba uses them as well, along with a few other people. But if it's the same as Laser Love, that would probably get more noticed.
 
If I were to start a fresh save just to test this, it'd be Holotape Cheats to get up to Chapter 3 again (in bursts so I could at least have two City Plans set up), and as far as I'm aware (even accepting that'd mean far less options for "allies" for the CH3 Endgame) that isn't the best idea right now...

F it, I'll try that after I finish what I'm doing. Is there a console command I could use to force Gremlin to spawn so I can check that quest too while I'm at it?

I'm still standing in the quest location, and you can see I'm holding the weapon (which is displaying and functioning fine having loaded back into that save - love the burst of smoke on the reload animation btw). The quest is definitely in my Pipboy and marked active but with no marker (the 24 there is for something else). So, uh...

Ah, it's been renamed and not edited in the documentation. Try sqv ss2c3_ma01 please.
