Can Clamping Be Disabled?

As the subject asks, is there a way to prevent the clamping of one object to another in workshop mode?

You might see if Place Everywhere has an option for that.

If not, have you tried shifting the clamped object to mid-air before scrapping or storing the base object? You can then use Place Everywhere to save and restore location info (= stores before moving, 0 applies to object).

Place Everywhere just has this...

clampedStoreToggle - F6 Key, toggle storing clamped objects (like signs and posters) into workshop, when underlying object is scrapped or moved into workshop storage

...which isn't what I'm looking for, unfortunately.

What are you trying to achieve?

The biggest frustration is when creating signs with the Project Blueprint Scrappy and Neon letters. One will tend to clamp to the one next to it, then when you want to tweak a previous one, you may end up moving several at the same time. It happens with other objects, too. Ultimately, things can be fine-tuned in the console, but that can be time-consuming.

I gotcha. Not something that I've noticed myself with the lettering, though I did notice it with the PBP turret stand and some brackets on the next building, darned things.

Probably not much help: what I ended up doing was making 100% sure that each item - in my case a turret stand - was placed exactly where I want it before going to the next item. This because it seemed to join/clamp with the next couple of items placed.

If I had to move it, I deleted anything offending that moved with it. Or just deleted and re-created it where I wanted.

If you use Place everywhere to select (via the numpad keyboard) and move, you will not have this kind of problem. Once you're hovering (do not select) the object you want to select/move, press F7 to lock it. And then use the numberpad keys to move (8 up/6 right/ 2 down/4 left). "/" to decrease the moviment and "*" to increase.
