AWKCR and similar

Having discovered Complex Item Sorter:https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/48826 and deciding to disable Valdacil's sorter, I found myself down some rabbit holes of links to this and that and it seems that there is a body of opinion that AWKCR is a pile of poo, and to be shunned, but no solid explanation of why. An alternative called ECO is pushed; since I'm setting up for a new playthrough now that Chapter3 is here I wondered what the relatively stable and considered minds on these forums thought about AWKCR.

I haven't used the mod in years but from what I remember (and someone can correct me if I'm wrong/misinformed) the mod was originally created due to a bug that would crash the game if too many keywords were loaded, and AWKCR was a system to bypass that bug. Thing is, not only does that bug not exist anymore, AWKCR also came with bunch of other changes to workbenches, decals, leveled lists, some items etc. - many of which were completely undocumented, poorly implemented, and unstable. The general consensus is that the mod is very bloated, and the amount of data that it generates can actually jeopardize your save, especially on longer playthroughs. ECO is much more lightweight, and generally plays friendly with other mods without the need for patches, at least in my experience.

ECO Redux is far superior in every way, so even if AWKCR weren't outdated and buggy as hell, ECO would still be the best option available.

Thanks for your replies everyone, I'll be looking at alternatives to AWKCR I think:)
