Auto-Assignment of Unique NPCs Interaction with other Auto-Assign Options

I have a question about how various Auto-Assignment options interact with each other (this is for the Wiki).

What happens to "named" NPCs when "Auto Assign Unique NPCs" is ON (default) and "Auto Assign Away from Work Objects" & "Auto Assign Away from Beds" are both OFF (default)?

For instance, the NPCs at Abernathy farm are "Unique" but they also have existing "beds" and "jobs". Do the "Auto Assign Away from Work Objects" & "Auto Assign Away from Beds" options take priority over "Auto Assign Unique NPCs"?

Yes, they will take priority. I tend to always use the "negative-wins" approach, which favors doing nothing if any option would prohibit an action.

Okay, so if a player wants the Abernathies or Finches (most of whom have beds/jobs already) to get auto-assigned by Sim Settlements, they need to turn ON "Auto Assign Away from Work Objects" & "Auto Assign Away from Beds". Is that the correct interpretation?

Yes.

To me the idea of the "Auto Assign Away from..." options is to give Sim Settlements "priority". A more appropriate name for these might be "Auto Assignment Prefers Residential Plots to Beds" and "Auto Assignment Prefers Job Plots as Work" (those names are far too long...). They are off by default so that any assignments you have already done with vanilla items or other mod objects won't be undone. As soon as you turn those options on, Sim Settlements assumes that any assignment of that type that is NOT to a plot can be broken if there's a vacant plot of that type available.
