The final check says I haven't placed any attack markers, is this mandatory? After all there should be vanilla spawn points right? Or does the city plan building destro those vanilla spawn points and use whatever the designer has placed?

No, it's not mandatory - it's just suggesting you do it. If you're cool with the vanilla spawn points, you don't have to place those.

Ah, cheers! Just to clear up a question I just thought of while waiting to be able post again! Do these markers replace vanilla spawn? Does the first marker placed mean that all the vanilla spawns are cancelled? This would be very handy for extended cities that don't want to require a mod such as 'get off my buildzone' to move spawn points outwards, assuming that these markers can be placed outside the green border? If they can't then I will need to build slightly in of my extended green border to leave room for markers.

These markers move the vanilla spawn points for Raid NPCs. You can move them outside the green borders - yes.

Does placing just 1 of the markers replace all of the vanilla markers? So if I place marker 1 down that's the only place raids will spawn?

Oh, and do these only work within the confines of a city plan? I have the Project Blueprint esp's in my normal play profile so if I place one of these in a settlement I'm building using a combination of plots and build it myself do they have any impact?

No, one attack marker moves one attack marker - that's why there are three with names 1 of 3, 2 of 3, and 3 of 3. You pretty much want to place all of them or none of them.

They should work even if you use them in your normal gameplay.

That's the direction you want the enemies to face. It probably doesn't matter though.

What would happen if I turned on "don't leave workshop mode" in place everywhere, dropped down a spawn point, and then moved the spawn point outside the settlement borders? i.e., if I placed a spawn point immediately outside the main bridge, another down a footbridge, and one a little further down the island? Does that work, or do they need to be placed inside the settlement borders to function?

I've done just that in several places and so far it seems to be working.

One thing to note, I used to use the More Attackers, Get Off My Build Area mod and it moved all of the spawn points to outside of the build areas. If you were using Clean & Simple or ASE it would even move them outside of the expanded area. With ASE this created some issues where you'd get notified of an attack and get there to find that the raiders had spawned so far away they were kind of milling around looking for a way to the settlement. I'm guessing you'd run into similar issues using these if you place them to far away.
