Old Post All Settlements Extended and City Plans

Maybe this is an obvious question, but if you are working on a City Plan that you will eventually share, is it best to not use All Settlements Extended while building it? I'd like to not make that a requirement really (more easily shareable). Or if I am using it, should I just work to keep everything within the vanilla area and not use the extended area for the city plan?

Thanks.

I don't know about others, but I too use All Settlements extended. Despite that, I would vote for keeping the city plan strictly inside the vanilla area.

I'd agree with keeping the city plan within vanilla limits but to make it compatible with ASE if walled it might be a good idea to have more than 1 entrance so that getting to all parts of the extended area is easy.

Not a bad idea at all. I'm playing around with design at the moment so we'll see how it goes.

Alternatively lots of people actually want full ASE settlements. You'd get plenty of people who would prefer your building in the extended areas.

Well we will see how well this goes. I think I'll start small and see how well it works out. It's not super complicated but it is time consuming :)

Thanks everyone!

Just remember 1 thing...
Don't put settlement assets (turrets, water, power) out of the reach of the player. ie: outside borders. Some like to use Maintenance Mode.. weird I know... but that seriously screws things up.
Oh.. if you want a real challenge... build your City Plan to beat MM. ;)

I would suggest just putting the fences and gates in the areas that the ASE extends the borders to so that the settlements are actually larger if someone is using it and if they are not the only thing affected by not using it is the fencing and gates. That way people can have more to build additional plots if they choose to.
