Question Salvage Beacons immediately return to inventory

(1) Put scrap into container
(2) Put beacon into container
(3) Beacon immediately returns to inventory. No prompt appears.

Dropping the beacons on the ground and picking them back up did not help.

Note : I had to cheat this in via console, as the recipe doesn't appear even though I have the perk. I *can* create the stations and have at least one manned nearby.

They are crafted at the Chem station and I have never been able to take out of my inventory because putting them into a container they do their function. Not sure why you just don't want to carry one with you - or out in the wild, drop it on the ground, never to be seen again.

I think I have seen the dropping of beacons suggested as a way to reset them.
I'm not really sure where to start to try and help with the original problem. I assume that you would need to have the salvage beacon mod installed in order to be able console command one into inventory and build a station. Just in case though, @DougO you do have the separate Salvage Beacon Mod installed don't you? (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/18757) Sometimes if you don't manually install a mod it can be missing something it needs to work properly. By perk I assume you mean the Local Leader perk required to build the beacons, if I remember right the recipe should show even before it lets you build it. Can you still build beacons in other saves? Not sure what else to ask.

i wonder if the fact that the recipe didnt appear is your problem? you should be able to craft them at a chem station, rather than magic them in via a command. i'd check that the mod is correctly installed and you can craft them, and see if a crafted beacon works better/different to a console generated beacon?

I always have to console them in, but I see in Chem station - mostly because I need them a lot sooner than when I get those perks... playing hard core survival, it would be forever before I would get the perk requirement....

ah yes, but you know the mod is installed because you can craft them. ive never had a game where i havent got them available to me, and i wonder if there's a bit of an issue with the state of the mod for the OP?

hahaha, :grin
check it in fo4edit. I had a mod installed a while back that moved it to the electronics workbench.
:blush
exact same issue and I was using the “espExplorer” to zap them in before I figured it out.
:good

absolutely no idea about it teleporting itself back out?
My bet is if you figure out where the recipe went “fo4edit” you’ll find the culprit for the other issue? :scratchhead

Uninstall/Reinstall of the Salvage Beacons add-on didn't help. I got fo4edit but all I can tell is that it reports no conflicts? It definitely doesn't appear in the chem/utility crafting. Hacked in 2nd level perk to build electronics bench, and it was there. Crafted new beacons...which do the same thing, instantly return to my inventory. (like a script is misfiring?)

Good, you are halfway there...
Ok, what mod put the recipe into the electronics workbench? that is the mod you want to test with it disabled.

It should be the last mod on your right when looking at it in Fo4edit.

I also have this issue. For me it caused by def_ui + vis-g + kinggath sorted. Kinggath sorted 1.4 doesn't work (the salvage beacon doesn't get sorted) and 1.06 doesn't support sorting mods. Without kinggath sorted -mod the beacon can't be placed into containers with def_ui + vis-g.

edit. Works with FROST simplified sorting, but with kinggath sorted 1.6 and FROST ss it does the return to inventory again. Also with FROST ss it doesn't ask if you want the stuff for yourself or to donate them.
