I HATE to say this but CTD happening :(

Still running windows 3.1 then eh?:P lol
western digital about 2gb with windows 95. use it in an old system that I set aside for soft modding xbox originals. havent actually touched it in about 5 years. Market died down.

but is it possible the SS addons that haven't been upgraded is causeing the CTD ?

Ignore this just tested it and didn't stop the CTD :(
 
@uituit Are you having random CTDs outside of settlements or in practically empty ones? Or are all of your CTDs in developed settlements?
 
Hi kinggath my CTD have been in starlight and red rocket .both are very heavy developed. for red rocket(20 plots) its mostly clutter ,plants and stuff(that's in my vid here ) Spectacle island only has one plot but has a lot of clutter in the way of rocks and mountains but I get CTD there to.
Sanctuary .sometimes I get ctd but that hasnt gotten to much in it 26 settlers and its spread out.
Very rarely it will happen outside a settlement.
I havnt tested empty settlements as yet but I will try now

jumped around for about 30 mins to my other settlements and ctd only happen once, my other settlements arnt developed that much but a few have high pops 41 at oberland but its fine to jump into them. but as I jumped into red rocket I got the CTD.

while running around the commonwealth to see if I CTD I noticed this ,ive never seen it happen before not sure if it has anything to do wit ctd, as u get close to it it goes away ,it all over the place :(

i was able to get rid of the cola signs by manually deleting Ind Rev and fresh download and install
I tried with Sim Set 2 but still had Ctd:(

Try what I did.
I put the load order higher .
Open up Nexus.
Click the plugins tab.
Find Sim Settlements Industrial Revolution.
NOT industrial city [an add on].
Ok not click the file and on the upper left click the up arrow until the file is at 17 or higher.
It should be as close to the top as possible. So should Sim Settlement.
Higher means a lower number like 10 or 1`7. not 112 OR 156.
Just wanted to be clear :)
Anyhow, I did this and my CTD's stopped. Hope this helps :)

I also put any add ons higher as well.

Wow, I remember my first 2 GB HD. I thought I would never fill it up.
I now have over 8 terabytes and wondering how I will get more room lol.

Thats some serious shit. Im not sure it can be absolutely related to ind rev because non of us edit the world cells. But what you see in those pictures is objects being spawned into your world which is boosting your poly count everywhere.
 
Looks like im getting weird shit added now too. Played for hours this morning with nothing then I went to test a new npc and noticed one of my prisoners now has a fkin item in his head. That black board divides the raider in half lol.

Now that I think about it, i noticed the same item near my workbench in greygarden but I assumed it was a bug because I scrapped everything there.

@kevbal @uituit the spontaneously spawning textures planes is concerning- can you guys compare load orders and figure out which mods you have in common? Need to eliminate some variables.

There's nothing in SS that could cause that directly, but maybe it's a side effect of resource usage. First need to find out if any other mods are a suspect.

If you increase your settlement budget-size-meter-poly-counter in any way, you decrease performance (from increased load) and increase risk the risk of CTD? And placing a plot increases the counter?

Depends on your system. I use a mod to increase the budget, and had after the patch 2.0 until yesterday only crashes in three settlements. And those three weren't either the smallest, or the biggest.

I have one to add which makes NO sense.
I found a fridge a few feet outside of my settlement boundaries and it had loot in it.
Thing is I have never used a fridge in any settlement I have made.

Well, if anyone remembers my post from yesterday I mentioned I would be test running the latest Texture Optimization Project ver.19. And after many hours of playing I honestly believe I saw an improvement in performance.

This got me wondering about something: Does SS bundle the textures it uses with the mod or does it use local textures? ie. If I use a custom texture for whiskey will I see the custom texture in a NPC house or will I see the texture that was included in SS?

Hi Wanderer. It works like just about any game.
The more objects that you CAN have in a frame then the more polygons the computer has to process. For example I said CAN because if the game engine knows there are supposed to be ten boxes in a row, but nine are behind the first one. It still have to figure this out and then eliminate the nine and just show you the front side of the one in front.
Now as soon as YOU move to the side of the front box you can now see all nine boxes. This puts a huge strain on the processing machine.

Ok so now say Bethesda figures that you can handle 1,000 objects in a settlements. If each object has between 100,000 and one million polygons [or triangles for purists] that is a billion poly's. Now we come along and say nope, I want more.

So we have more.
For example at Somerville I have 3973 objects in that settlement you can see in my video [see signature]. WAY over the limit. If your machine is not a good one it could cause your computer to CTD yes.

So for slow computer just put the details as low as you can and you should be fine, or at least better :)

Ok um welllll. As far as I know the objects are all non DLC vanilla ones so that everyone can use this mod. So i THINK it would default to the one from the game.

I am sure if I am wrong someone will correct this :)

Oh man, I hope the textures are local. That would mean optimized textures would improve the performance of this wonderful mod. And it would allow players to use their favorite custom textures for things like drinks, junk, etc.

Perhaps I should build a town on Spectacle Island to really put this to the test....
