The Unofficial CH 3 Speculation Thread

I assume we won't get support from a faction if we already blew it up. The mod tries to be immersive in that part. And it's probably not going to be a rewrite of existing main quest (but we can dream...). So I'd go with "added NPCs to represent factions". I hate to say this but the "helping Lupe not fall" scene is probably just that, there for the trailer. Much like Wes arriving in ch2 trailer. Though it would be amazing if stuff like that actually made it.
The bald captain lady being Jake's daughter, now that would be a twist. Hopefully not. Her mom? That's cheesy but I guess possible. And with us recording all the messages for Laura, that would backfire horribly.
The "war room" scene is not the very first quest of ch3 I think. We should have a lot of time to prepare and still get dunked on, I imagine that's what's gonna happen. The preparations could include meeting said faction representatives... Or if that comes later, I dunno, shaping our faction and supplying it.
Also vanilla Institute sucks despite the valuable tech and research (there's at least 2 points where it's really tempting to blow Shaun's brains out), Railroad sucks, BoS is the best gameplay, and as general of the Minutemen we should be able to shape the faction in a way that it can coexist with BoS. Especially if we matter in BoS too.
Almost forgot but I bet the gunners' benefactor is the NLTC. Though if it really is them, do they have to show up at all? Would never see some "rich world elites" on the front lines.

Maybe it's just me, but when the camera gets in closer to that guy, look at his left eye... my guess is he's actually the Railroad representative (escaped synth, maybe?), the spot he's standing having a train line behind him only makes me think that more strongly.
This railroad overpass is the one near HQ, therefore he is facing HQ.

Who are the NLTC? I was betting on the Enclave.

New Liberty Trading Company - The "investors" you meet during the Nightingales sub questline. They are from somewhere outside Boston, and wealthy enough that they can fund a hospital outside their home region - they are a pretty common guess for who is funding The Gunners too.

I'm guessing the new Gunner Captain is Jake's daughter, not his ex wife as previously speculated. He speaks to her like a father to child in his broadcasts, so we assume she's a small child, but fathers speak that way to their 40 year old children sometimes lol. I see no reason yet given that she can't be maybe 16 or 18 years old.

Then the Enclave is behind the NLTC! :lol

Maybe if you knew that Sirick (the lead writer) confirmed in his QnA thread that Jake's age is 34, and Laura's age is "a vague early tweens".
...but fun idea, have a new twist to a classic Star Wars reference. "Join the Dark Side. I am your daughter."I
As much as I love Star Wars, this would be more of the reused main plot. Aka our lost relative we search for half the game is the big bad. Not saying that couldn't be executed better but still, it's already a thing and it's far from perfect.

So... I guess the Survivor faction will end up starting a proto-government with the other surviving factions... On the Nightingales quest there is that group that wanted to "help" the hospital, but the Player could foot the bill themselves.

To bad we could not .. "have that group permanently vanish" ... . accidents happen.... right... right !!!

Player can have the most terrifying army of the place with Institute and Minuteman in terms of personnel and logistics. There will probably be a way to use it on the mod.

Doesn’t sit right with me. If NLTC was funding the Gunners, why would they be willing to work with the SS? Seems like it would be throwing money away to fund the opposition when you’ve got an army gathering to re-take the region.

I've been told by Neeher it actually happens in-game, so, barring any changes, it'll be something we'll get to experience in the mod.
As impressed as I am if that's the case... the part of me that will forever be Tech Support dreads how that will probably be "the scene that breaks for massive amounts of people" for this Chapter. Not that I doubt Neeher's skillz, but... there's been at least one in every Chapter so far.

A bit of "playing both sides" perhaps? Making everyone they can reach financially dependant on them? I can see how that could be written, but personally I wouldn't go that way - and considering who I think the True Big Bad's gonna be, it's not them anyway. (Remember K S Magnusson, employee of both Vault Tec and RobCo pre-war? Remember the multiple hints some of which still don't actually show up in the live game guys that are dropped?)

I think it makes sense. The nightingales are neutral, they can cash in on them later (as the lady kinda says if you get it out of her). So that would be another leverage point. Hell, they could even drop some bioweapon so medics are needed even more. Wouldn't surprise me much if it was their doing to set the trap in HQ (imagine if that went off..)
Remember K S Magnusson
Still waiting on that Magnusson DLC! Or Project Mojave collab... Honestly dunno but if he made it back into the mod, that would be interesting.
Edit: imagine if said bioweapon was dropped on the HQ. featuring Depravity compatibility and making all the HQ haters happy. We'd all have to relocate to Powell's farm instead.
