Super slow saves 2.0.0

I'm still randomly getting super long saves. Doesn't matter where I am or what I've been doing. fwiw- my current save has 38 active scripts, 34 of which say [TERMINATED] at the beginning of the name. I also have 34 suspended stacks all related to spotlights. The other active scripts are SS2_battlemanager scripts related to getting detected and setting off alarms, ie- spotlight related. I'm 10+ hours past that point in my save. Any advice?
Good call, I'll get that to him.

I actually did try deleting all the terminated scripts and it wouldn't load the save. Not sure what happened there.
I have the same exact issue. Both End of the Beginning (SS2C2_Sirick_MQ22) and SS2C2_BattleManager are showing as stopped quests but several BattleManager scripts are running and I have 5 active instances of spotlight script + many terminated instances, at some point it was around 120. I can purge the terminated instances from my saves but when I try to terminate the BattleManager or active spotlight scripts, that kind of save file crashes the game. Something related to stage 30 of BattleManager got stuck in a loop and I can't find a way of safely shutting it down.

Apart from having very long fast travel times from settlements, I observed the "save" situation at Sunshine Tidings. I travelled there and saves were normal. I laid down half a dozen plots and before they even got built, saves turned to minutes.

I broke down and started a new-ish playthrough. So far, so good. It was too sad to see the half finished quests on my pipboy. Let's hope this playthrough is better.
Does anyone use "Player Comments and Headtracking"? I am NOT using it this time, so I'll see if that makes a difference.

Do you guys know if running the SS2 addons, like "Scrappers", "Tech Settlements", etc. slow things down? My PC is a bit old. w/GTX1070ti.

One more thing...I can't load my saves into Fallrim/ReSaver. Any else have this issue?
Maybe try saving again in fallout and loading it in resaver. If a save won't load via resaver, it's usually corrupted.

I use player comments. It's not the issue. The only thing negative thing that mod does is interrupt holotapes if you don't keep the pipboy activated when playing them. It does weird things during conversations from time to time as well, but can be disabled with a hotkey if you stumble upon one of the rare occasions it messes something up.

I used them last playthrough, disabled them this time, and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Having the addons shouldn't make an impact. Some of the building plans tho can get very big and busy (looking at you Superstructures) but building one big one is no different than building several small ones with an equivalent number of parts. I usually go smaller for more design freedom and to spare the build limit a little. All plot sizes produce the same amount of resource so the difference between 1x1, 2x2, and 3x3 is really just how many people can be assigned to it. For example, the 3x3 building materials plot Yasigan Industries can employ up to 5 settlers and I believe it collects 5x as much scrap as a plot with only one worker, if it's fully staffed.

Anyways the addons don't do anything until you build one of their plans, and then it doesn't do anything that any stock plan wouldn't do.

Installed a mod called "Clonemyshack" and it seems to solved my slow saves. Mostly Just by chance. lol Try it.

The only reference I could find to that mod was CloneMyShack.esp in some guys load order on a forum...

EDIT: Or I could try Googling "Clone my shack" instead lol. Big brain moment.

Red rocket and sanctuary may be close enough that it thinks you’re in both. That’s the problem with sanctuary-rr-abernathy. If you stand between then you’re close enough for all 3 to load and if there’s lot of stuff in them they’ll overload your system and probably cause a CTD. There are several triangles tho: castle-spectacle-warwick, greentop-slog-finch that gets exacerbated by sargus and that gunner camp on the overpass. Even being between county crossing and taffy has given me problems when the BOS are fighting the super muntants at west Everett. Things load when you get within about 2 1/2 map squares, so it’s possible to get multiple settlements running at once.
Its the uGridsToLoad issue. Somewhere on this site (do't remeber where) is a grid map tghat lets you see the grids. I think its also the grid lines in the vanilla pipboy map.

Based on my own experiences, I can confirm that the issue is either with SS2 or WSFW, based on the following specific points:

1. Starting a new game, I have no issues with saving at all. Full saves take about 2-3 seconds, autosaves don't seem to affect gameplay.
2. Immediately after starting the SS2 content (Jake showing up to talk) the save starts taking 5-10 seconds and causing the game to freeze while saving.
3. After building a full settlement (using the desk to build the city plan) starts causing saves to take even longer, but only while outside and near the settlement.
4. Saves made while build scripts are running (i.e. immediately after seeing notifications like "A settler has finished building a home in Starlight Drive-In") will consistently cause my game to freeze and crash.

There may be some compatibility issues, but if there are they were introduced by SS2, as my game was stable before I updated to 2.0. My current gameplay was as follows:
1. Start game, build character.
2. "Start me up" triggers. I have selected both the "Dreaming, wake up somewhere else in the commonwealth" and the "Dreaming, was in a vault" options. Neither caused issues previously, so most likely unrelated.
3. Exit vault, go to Sanctuary, clear Sanctuary with Codsworth.
4. Go to Concord, rescue settlers.
5. Return to Sanctuary, built beds, resources, defenses manually (no Sim Settlements components or gameplay yet)
6. Do first MM quest (Tenpines). This time it goes to Corvega, clear it out, return to turn it in.
7. Preston makes me a MM, sends me to second MM quest. This one is at the crossing, goes to the clothing store. Do all that and return to Preston.
8. Go to Starlight, clear out the moles, get the key, build my first beacon to trigger Jake.
9. Do the residential plot tutorial, no issues. Tell Jake Concord is clear.
10. Go to Concord, Jake is happy, gives holotape.
11. Go back to Starlight, build Agri and industrial tutorials, no issues. Jake leaves. Save game here, save has no issues.
12. Build desk, Go into the terminal, First run settings to "returning user, automatic, ok". Use city plan, "Starlight Basics" (only plan I have for Starlight). Build finishes with all plots built and power connected to everything except the beacon. This is normal.
13. If I save at this point, the game will freeze/crash.
14. Second attempt, city plan builds the same as before. Instead of saving, I walk down to Drumlin Diner, do the confrontation.
15. Use the holotape to cheat to Chapter 2 (I've done Chapter 1 already, want to see the new stuff). Get all the mission rewards, set the settlement to "Sunshine Tidings", get the rest of the rewards.
16. Save here. Takes longer, but finishes.
17. Go to Concord, start Chapter 2. Progress through the missions until back in Concord again. No issues with playing or saving at all while in interior zones.
18. Jake says thanks, time to take a break. I go over to Sunshine Tidings to see how it looks. It's not set up. Save first, no issues with save. Build a desk and set the city plan.
19. If I save at this point, the game freezes/crashes.
20. Second attempt, I rebuild again, then walk south away from Sunshine Tidings. Save when I get close to the bridge to the south, save is okay.
21. New message from Jake, triggers another quest to go back to Main Settlement (for me this is Starlight).
-- Fast travel causes crash (due to autosave?)
-- Saving at any point after this causes a crash.
22. I have made it through the events at the settlement, walked all the way back to Drumlin Diner, and then the game froze when trying to save. After 5 different attempts, I gave up and came here.

The TL;DR from that is "no issues at all until I build a city plan. After that, I have issues with saving, and those issues are consistently worse while outside and near the settlement." Again, I did not have any issues with SS2 until 2.0, and I had more mods installed before that as well (including Fusion City, Outcasts, and Project Valkyrie). Removing those mods and starting a fresh game didn't help either, so I'm under the impression that the recent updates are the source of my issues.

I also don't know if it's relevant, but I'm on PC running an I7-6700HQ, 16GB DDR3, nVidia GeForce GTX-960M, NVMe PM951 512GB SSD. Running Windows 10 Home, 19043.1348. Fallout 4 version 1.10.163, F4SE 0.6.21 rel 23.
So what do we do just downgrade?

Exactly what I did. Restarted game without c2. Running Sim Settlements 2-47976-1-0-0b-1628543074, with, SS2 Extended-47976-1-0-12a-1619901788. No long saves. Getting thru c1 without any quest hang ups. With c2 installed - I experienced several c1 quests snafus. I'll finish c1,THEN ugrade the core files to c2. - and help squash more bugs.

uGridsToLoad counts world cells, not exactly the map grid squares. The map squares have 2x2 cells in them, which means you load things in 2.5 squares radius. Also for the range of things like hospitals or caravans - it's 17 cells or 8.5 map squares in cardinal directions. Harder to count diagonally.

Narrowing in on slow save on Xbox

Normal save times
: I can build all vanilla assets, I can use SS2 foundations and power lines. Plots I can build with no one assigned Agricultural, Industrial and Municipal.

Slow save starts when
  • I build Storage Containers. Not sure if size of container matters but I built 1 large one.
  • I build residential plot. Using interior.

How tested
Normal save times; I scrap it, then build foundations for layout. Add 3 water pumps, bubble turrets, Nuclear reactor, chem station and can populate it with 10 settlers. I save as I go with no problems. I have 3 SS2 settlements built.
If I go to SS2 settlement, the problem is present. It is not present at the above.
I built Agricultural, Industrial and Municipal plots but assigned no one. I saved game, no problem.

Slow Save starts
Example 1 - I built large storage container and saved again, and slow saves started. It was less then a minute from last save.
Example 2 – All the same as above minus the storage container. Built 3 interior plots and saved game. Slow saves started.
Hope this is useful.

New play through with stable load order. Chapter 2 loaded and in quest 'Hostile Takeover' have not listened to radio yet. On Xbox Series S. SS2 settings are set to low for visuals and animations are off.

My Load Order: UFO4P [XB1], AWKCR (All DLC), Workshop Framework [XB1], USO core, Sim Settlements 2, HUDFramework, SS2: Chapter 2, Canary Save File Monitor, USO Season Pass, UCO core, FreeMaker, SMM, Rise of the Commonwealth SS2, Puma's Longer Power Lines, Invisible Jetpack Ring, M249 SAW, Freecrafter (Complete Edition)

For what it's worth. I uninstalled a mod called Boston Natural Surroundings and it impacted my saving hugely making them faster. In Sanctuary with 20 settlers and about 35 or so plots and lots of generators turrets etc when it previously took minutes to make a save, now it takes 10 to 20 seconds. It's still a long time but it's a major improvement. Outside settlements my saves are now almost instant. I know most of you don't have this mod installed but if some of you have it's worth trying to uninstall it. I have potato computer and I have no Idea how to post my 73 mod modlist here :pardon

I said fuck it and decided that it wasnet a big deal so im letting this ave ride with chapter 2 installed. All tho ur comment kinda makes much more sense then my stubborn approuch. Is ss2 expanded worth starting a new game? If so I might
